Hi guys,

I have made it my goal to get my hair in great condition. I have been doing search and destroy on my hair with a pair of hair scissors for the past month now, but the damage years of coloring and perming has left a lot of damage to the ends. I am still finding split ends!

I haven't colored my hair for 2 years now, and I blow dry less than once a week, and I always use a heat protector when I do. I am going to buy a Mason Pearson comb, and a boar bristle brush soon to limit damage.

I got the Redken 'All Soft' shampoo and conditioner, and the Redken Deep Fuel. My current routine was SC once a week, and S and then use the Deep fuel once a week. But then I read on here I need to follow the Deep Fuel with a deep conditioner? Could I follow with the ordinary All Soft conditioner? if not, any reccomendations for a conditioner I can get in the UK?

Thanks in advance...

I would guess that the reason for needing to follow "Deep Fuel" with a deep conditioner is because it must be a protein conditioner and they say too much protein can make the hair brittle. So you can you any conditioner that's a moisturizing one after the protein conditioner. I never had a problem with proteins and I used them a ton; however, I read that too and I do try to balance out with a moisturizing conditioner now. What you can also do is MIX the two and save separate steps.

Does the UK carry Pantene or Neutrogena conditioners?  If so, they are some of the best around and don't cost a lot of money.  You may also want to use a leave-in conditioner for added protection.  And, I hate to say this, but it sounds like you need a good haircut to get rid of the damage.  It will grow back, promise!!!

just wanted to say thanks for the replies.

Yep we do have pantene and Neutrogena, but I'm really trying to move away from silicone. I know the Deep Fuel contains some, but as far as I'm aware the All Soft don't.

The split end search only took 30 mins this week! Has been an hour plus the past few weeks!

The All Soft shampoo does have silicone, although the one conditioner I found does not.

Congratulations with the split-end search! It looks like you're really weeding them out!
