I also got some monsturous puffy hair and when I want to wear it straight and smooth I try leave-in gels or oils. I mostly put some little sweet almond oil (meaning  1-2 drops) and spread it to my length with a brush and did get some smoothness. But I have very dry hair and it doesn't look greasy or dirty at all, for someone who has oily hair it wouldn't work.
Just an idea...

Length: thighes
Growing as far as it goes...

Straightening Irons do work for guys. I'm a guy too ,  and I use them.

my hair is short...i'm a guy ok...
my hair at the side is puffy...conditioner doesn't work..and if i slp on the side...when i wake up..its flat..but after a while is puff up again
how to solve ths problem?
going to a hairstylish is a good idea?
