I agree... unless you are doing some potentially damaging things to your hair than you do not need much protein. Many naturals complain of getting hard hair, even after moisturizing.
Your choice to do protein once a month, sounds good to me.

I don't heat style my hair often at all. When I do it it's mostly just to see how much my hair grew About 3 or 4 times a year...
I'm just used to doing bi-monthly protein treatments because I've always had a relaxer or texturizer. I didn't think that I needed to do it as much of I was 100% natural. I'm worried that if I continue to do them, I'll make my natural hair hard. I'd have rather the texturized hair (that I'm going to cut off one day) suffer.
I think I'll do light protein once a month... heavy protein every 4 months from now on.
Thanks for your reply... and your hair looks great

I don't think your natural hair will need as much protein as long as it is healthy. If you are planning on heat styling a lot it may need more. I heat style my hair like twice a month and I do protein treatments monthly with Ion rebuilder or Nutress Hair protein pack. I'm going to try Motions CPR treatment soon. After you do your protein treatment just make sure to condition with a moisturizing conditioner afterwards. HTH
