I installed a client yesterday with extenshells from shrinkies.net and wow! I loved them that much that I'm going to use this method around the back of my head. I've been used to using extentubes and boy are these better. The first thing I noticed was how easy they flattened, I usually get a blister starting after a full extentube install, because I have to squeeze the pliers that hard to make sure the extentube was flattened, I didn't with these. What a breeze! Another factor that I liked was the sheer flatness of these things, I ran my hand down the back of the client's head and you couldn't feel any bumps at all, absolutely brilliant, they lay 10 times more flatter than extentubes or in fact any other method I've used to be honest. I'll keep you posted how they hold up. They seem a lot more secure though than the extentubes as there is much more holding them in place xx
Oh my gosh! I get blisters too when I install extentubes! At least I'm not the only one! I am going to wrap my hand next time to avoid the pain!
I did a full install with the sillicone lined extentubes on Friday that I bought from Korea. I applied about 250 extensions, and not one of the sillicone inserts came out upon application, so that's good.
But alas, those things are so big compared to the protubes. I wish they would make them in a smaller size.
PS- what size tube did you use? I have tried the 3mm and the 2.5mm. I like both, but the smaller size seems more secure, less room for slippage.
I used the bigger ones. I've got a few smaller ones but they wouldn't fit on my pulling tool lol. You would think we did hard manual work lol blisters and all ha ha x those silicone ones sound very kind x
i use both from amm- actually the extenshells- i get from another supplier however the smaller size like amms is what i get- besides a tiny size i have custom made, anway, yeah i agree they are great, very flat and smooth. i use a different opener too, one that rounds it instead of using a pronge to insert inside.
I have the plier from hair piece the pro one. No blisters. If you use one that doesn't have that spring it's a pain. www.extensiontools.com has them too. The silicone ones have stayed great in my clients hair but they are large. they only become separated on my wire threader not all just a few but I can't stand those other threaders.
Tangles - the methods are outlined on my site...my website says I do not use hot fusion glue or harsh chemicals. EM is considered "cold" fusion as no glue pots are necessary and the adhesive is warm to the touch but does not get too hot.
Ok AMM tell me more about smaller size microrings with the sillicone insert! I'm going crazy with the suspense!
Are you going to carry them in your store, and when do you expect they will be ready for purchase?
I have them now but haven't had a chance to put them up yet. I got the large and the medium and small are on the way.
The silicone lining is amazing. I tested a handful today on my dolly and put some on my hair and they open right back up. They're easy to press down, too. The silicone did not come out at all.
I took a ring out and mangled it all up with pliers and only then was I able to get the insert out. It's soft and pliable and is wrapped inside the entire diamter of the ring. I'm impressed with them.
The small are unbelievably small. The diameter of them, I mean. The large's diameter is about 2.6 so you're losing space inside with each successive size down. It will be a challenge to find pretipped hair that will fit a small without having to split them or make some kind of adjustment. The added silicone lining is a great plus for those who've chewed up their hair with regular rings or had their hair slip/slide on bare metals.

Nice matte finish on them, too.
woohoo i love silicone lined microrings i just have the large ones
i really hope you will sell them at your shop one day that would be great
In reference to not having a hair pulling hook that will fit through the tiny tubes, here is what I use (excuse the wretched ms paint example, ). An idea I got from someone here a time ago, and it's so darn easy. Just take a shrinkie or three (I actually use 3 inch industrial shrink tubing because it makes a better handle) and shrink it around a loop of plastic coated flexi wire. Tiger-Tail, the wire used commonly in beading, is perfect. If you make the loop longer than necessary you can load up half a dozen tubes at once for convenience, if you like. The wire stays flat enough to fit though anything your hair will. Easy easy.
hey thats my head!! well ladies its now 4 weeks since amanda put the extenshells in my hair and they are fab!! i havent lost one yet and they are so comfy! they lay very flat to my head and with having fine hair they dont cause any visible bumps like shrinkies do. amanda usually fits my exts using shrinkies and i have always loved them but these extentubes totally rock!! i absolutely love the install amanda did me this time, its the longest hair i have had in and the colours are great!! i razored the front once i got home and its been the best my hair has ever looked!! thanks mands you super diva of extensions!!!!!
