I couldn`t get my hair to grow, because my mother wouldn`t let me grow it out. I didn`t want to tell her that I wanted long hair. Today I couldn`t hold it in any more so I told her and she was okay with it!!!!! Did you want long hair and your mother wouldn`t let you do it? Tell me.
Glad you talked to Mom! See, we aren`t that bad! ;-)
Hallie, when I was 13 or 14 I decided I wanted to grow out my "boy short" hair. I wanted waistlength hair, like my friend, Dolly. One day, I announced to my mom that I wanted long hair. She said, "How long? What do you want long hair for? You`re not going to have long hair when your 30 are you?!?" She wasn`t very supportive. In her defense, I had almost BS length hair as a little girl and it caused her alot of grief, so she was probably thinking she would be going through that again. Anway, long story short: Of course, the first thing I did on my 30th birthday (I`m 36 now) was look in the mirror and say (out loud, even!), "Well, whaddya know? I`m 30 with long hair!!"
I never did reach waistlength because my hair always started looking bad at almost BS length. About a year and a half ago I got online and found several hair sites. I discovered I had been treating my hair badly all these years. So now I`m almost at waistlength and growing till it stops looking healthy. You know what else? Everytime my mother sees me she says, "You have such beautiful hair!" :-)
Grow your hair long and healthy, Hallie. And keep talking to Mom! :-)

My mother woudn`n let me grow my hair as well. So as a little girl and as a teenager my hair wasn` t really long. Later I decided to get really long hair and my hair is over 41 inches long now. I`m 36 and I have the (long) hair I always wanted. I might grow my hair even longer. Nevertheless I`m gratefull to my mother: girls with long hair in their youth often lost it and the older girls with long hair now used to have shorter hair in their youth. And do know what my mother says now: "You have such beautifull long blond hair". Just as Tresses!I`ve still one problem: I hope that my younger sisters will grow their hair just as long as I did. One sister already Think about it.
i don`t agree with you. i had long hair as a child and i still don`t have a problem with growing out my hair. (i`ve cut it shoulder length twice in 2 years) and it has always grown back pretty quick.
my daughter is five and her gorgeous hair is down to her waist. If i had a dime for every time she gets a compliment, i`d be rich.

Hey Hallie! Congrats on your mom letting you grow your hair out...hope it turns out gorgeous and flowing free. I`ve never had that problem myself, but a couple weeks ago my best friend, who had the most beautiful long hair, was forced by her mom to cut it, so that`s kinda the same thing. Good luck to ya! :) :) :)
and a note to Tresses; is that really your hair in the picture? If so, you`re a very lucky girl!!!!!! Talk about crowning glory!
Love, Ingrid
If I had wings then I could take you in I'd stay on the ground and show you some things The grass is strewn with blades of gold all sights and sounds I have been told all hopes, desires, seem to sing
it was the opposite with me! When I was 10 i wanted to cut my longer-than-waist length hair to my shoulders... and she wouldnt let me. finally she did, but kept whispering "Not so short" to the lady as I talked.. so the first thing i did when i got home was tell her off cry. but now im growin it again.
