I had this same problem and I found out that the problem was my relaxer. I used to use Mizani relaxer and it was not relaxing my hair well at all...I would get a relaxer and wait 2 weeks to wash and it would do the exact thing your hair is doing. I now use Silk II relaxer and can wash my hair the following week and have silky straight hair after flat ironing So you might want to check into a new relaxer.

I roll it up when its damp and let it air dry with the rollers in it (no it doesnt tangle i use leave in conditioner to prevent this) then i flat iron it to smooth the curls out a little...... but when i do this it thickens back up... when i try blowdrying and flat ironing it thickens back up...i mean its still straight just thick and harder to deal with suck as pulling it back.i mean i section it up in four sections and flat iron them piece by piece but it still thickens up could it be something im doing wrong during the drying process?

After your 1st wash do you hand blowdry your hair or do you set it/wrap it and sit under the dryer...that's where it makes a slight difference to my knowledge from personal experience. What you can do is (of course use some type of heat protectant), wrap or rollerset hair and sit under a dryer, if you dont have a hooded dryer than you can hand blow dry then straighten with a straighten/flat iron, or let it airdry and then use a flatiron with heat protectant (I cant stress that enough LOL). Which worked for me and a few others I know. I have naturally thick hair and when i get a relaxer it seems to become less thick and i like it this way because its easier to manage such as pulling it back into a pony tail and such ...when i first wash my hair after the relaxer its still straight but it thickens back up is there a reason why and how do i get it back to be thinner like it was when i first got it relaxed?
