QuoteReplyTopic: People who did the BC themselves... Posted: February 09 2006 at 2:20pm
Thanx! I did it. Well my mom did
it. I had my hair in 3 ponytails and cut those off. I really liked that
short, choppy look. I should've gotten that cut before it was time to
BC. I was so scared and nervous but I just did it anyway. I'm really
glad I did it. I love it. Then I shampooed my hair and my mom cut the
relaxed ends off while the shampoo was still in. I still have some
straight ends hanging on. I keep snipping them when I see them. I did
the front myself. Maybe in a couple of months I'll go and get it shaped
up. I like it short so I don't know if I want to keep it short. Any
tips for taking care of my natural hair?
Type: 3c/4a Natural
Current Length: 6"
Goal: Healthy, tip of nose /neck/shoulder length hair.

If you plan on having your hair cut really short (buzzed) it may be best if you go to a barber. They're really cheap (about 13.00 in Atlanta) and that's to get it all cut. That would be better than risking giving yourself a bad cut.
If you weren't planning on having it cut quite that short, nevermind.
Hair type: who knows?
Length: 23 inches as of 3/10/06
MY HAIR IS OFFICIALLY BRA STRAP LENGTH!!
Goal: Waist Length, which is only 30 inches so
ADVISE ME ON HOW TO GET JUST 7 MORE INCHES OF GROWTH!

Congrats Layla!!! Well I just had scissors when I chopped. My mom chopped off half of my hair off. She was nervous lol she thought I wouldn't like it. But I told her it won't matter because if its cut then I have to accept it until it grows back.
After she cut...I went into the rest room (with alot of light) and wet my hair so I could see the different textures. There is no way for me to explain how I cut the back...I think I just felt around the textures (pen springs from relaxed hair) and decided from there. At the end. I liked it alot.
Hey! When you do it let us know...tell us the whole story. Good luck.
I was planning on going to the salon to do the BC, but I think I'll
just do it myself with help from my mom. Can you tell me step-by-step
how you did it , if you remember. If not, any tips? TIA I think I might do it tomorrow.
