I posted a few months ago about getting my hair cut really short to grow out the black dye. - I had one big cut, then today another one, the hair is about 2" long and in a really nice cut, I suit it ok. BUT ! lol--the roots are grey, the middle and odd bits are warm light brown, the very ends are still, some of them, like black cherry. Theres every colour of the rainbow in there !!!...The hairdresser says I'm just grey at sides and the rest is still 50% grey and my natural black...Now that I can see what I look like with grey, I really want it, ash blonde or similar makes me look younger and for the first time in many yearsyou can notice the colour of my eyes ! Now I want the hairdresser to bleach it ash or soft grey..she wants a mid-brown. I dont WANT mid brown! - tell me what you all think, if it will take or not ?- Its in very good condition and not been dyed for about 4 months, grows very fast.

Maybe you could ask another colorist for their opinion, although beware that they a) won't know your hair's history and b) may be unscrupulous and promise you the earth just to get your custom.
If you trust your current hairdresser, maybe you should live with the existing colour for a month, continue to look after your hair really well and then ask her to dye it ash-blonde. The time will pass very quickly for you, but for your hair it could be just what's needed...
Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.
I remember your original posts when you were trying to decide whether to get your hair cut short. It's great you like it. Has all the dyed hair been cut out now? Like you I'm less grey than I thought I was. I still have quite a lot of natural dark brown left. My hairdresser doesn't understand why I like the grey either. I read somewhere that it is very hard to dye hair grey. That might be why your hairdresser doesn't want to try it. I'd be tempted to just let it grow naturally rather than dye it a colour you don't want.

Ok Well, I had a talk to hairdresser, she cut the dark ends off and put a lightest ash brown through it, and its now perfect. The lady in the post office said "oh look, its Sinead O'Connor " !! its SO short but the colour is perfect, and it does grow fast. She said if the darker hair at the back is annoying then we will go for highlights. .....I have been dyed, mainly black, for 40 years, and now I have this lovely light hair, it does lighten your face and change your eyes a lot. I can handle it short, I just couldn't handle it multi-coloured !
