I tried coconut oil for the first time last night and my hair LOVES coconut oil. I'm a bit surprised, but it really did work great. I didn't need to use shampoo to eliminate any greasies, either. I used the coconut oil for about 10 minutes on dry hair, then followed with my usual CCC routine. Result: soft, wavy, and dry ends are much better. No crispiness or greasiness, either. I'm going to try a longer (overnight) oiling and see how that goes.

I'm not sure about whether coconut oil will work for everyone, but I had tried different oils without any success. They left my hair greasy and took forever for the oiliness to dissipate, even with shampooing. So, this oil is light and smells like a tropical paradise. It is Omega Nutrition Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. Their website is www.omeganutrition.com, but I found it at my local health food shop. It is a solid at room temperature, so I put a very small chunk in my palm and liquify and then spread it around gently.

Hi Lollipop, Nothing works on all hair types... But coconut oil is pretty easy to buy, so if you're interested, give it a shot

Hi Lollipop,

One key to oil usage is moderation.  It is very easy to apply too much oil.

One factor which goes into avoiding that condition is the ease with which you can apply the smallest of portions of oil to your hair.

I personally have not had good results with coconut oil, but I know others who love it.  As AnaisSatin sez, "Nothing works on all hair types."
