QuoteReplyTopic: Latest Bohyme/Protac Install Posted: March 03 2006 at 10:05pm
Thought Id post the latest, I know all of my installs look the same...but here goes anyway!
These first ones are immediately before install...no extensions! Yikes!
The next ones are immediately after install, I dont like to cut before I wash. So About 10 minutes with the curling iron and they blend well enough to get me through until washing and cutting!
The next ones are after washing and before layers....as you can see the do NOT blend at all before razoring in some layers.
And here we are after the layering and freshly styled this morning
9 hours later after getting home from work and brushing out!

That is what I want my hair to look like as I have naturally curly hair, is there anywhere that I can buy hair that looks like that? I have used straight hair on myself for the last few installs and when I curl it they drop out within one hour afterwards.
Can anyone give me any suggestions on what to buy?

Synne...yes I had a few people in mind with this post! I wanted to share as much as I could with this post in light of alot of the recent comments. Also to say EAT YOUR HEART OUT to a anyone who thinks an unqualified person shouldnt attempt it at home! LOL
This board is all about sharing, as so many new people come here to learn. I am by no means perfect at it, but Ive learned alot over the years, and gotten pretty good at it (I think).
As you can see from the pictures my real hair is *crappy*. From my own abuse of bleach/highlights/dye, it pretty much kills the top of my hair. It never grows beyond this length, it grows fast but gets brittle and breaks, so it stays this length. Blending is a challenge for me, and I cannot wear it all one length. I would love to but I cant if I want it to look blended! The layers are the answer for me. Also curls really disguise and hide any blending issues. The curls dont have to be perfect, they just break up the lines! The second set of pictures are before any cutting whatsoever, 10 minutes with the curling iron...no real fuss at all. Just enough to break up the harsh line between my natural hair and the extensions. So as you can see its entirely possible to make crappy hair look great with extensions!
I forgot to give the details of this install....duh! This is about 7 ounces of Bohyme. #613 and #24. I used 2 rows of weft per tape. (I have one row that is triple wefted.) I cut the tape in half and the double rows of Bohyme machine weft fit on the tape fine. 3 rows is a challenge to fit on the half tapes. The top row I used LG since I have a problem with the tape becoming visable in that area.

oooooooooooo that's gotta be the best install I've ever seen on you chick, its superb, you can't tell its extensions, have you never thought of getting into the business xxx
Sherrie, it looks amazing. I have questions too, if you don't mind. The lines in your pics, is that showing approximately how short those layers are? How do you do the layering with scissors or the razor? And what size curling iron did you use and how do you use it to make those great curls?
I guess everyone probably has their own layering techniques. But this is what I do and again Ive got pictures! After this thread you will probably all be sick to death of me posting pictures, so I might just lay low on the pictures for awhile.....
Top row of extensions (Runs temple to temple) I razor the first layer, starting with the razor a few inches above where I want this layer to end. Then I go back and start picking up strands (about every other strand) I razor in the second layer, a little shorter. I now have 2 layers in my top row:
2nd row of extensions (Runs temple to temple) Same thing. I razor the third layer and then go back and pick up about every other strand razoring the shorter layer, I now have 4 layers in my top two rows of extensions:
3rd Row of extensions: (run from top of ear to ear) I just razor in one layer (so I have a total of 5 layers in the top 3 rows of extensions.) The remaining bottom three rows of extensions I leave for thickness and length, no layers:
This works for me since I need to wear my hair with lots of layers, otherwise I would have the dreaded mushroom look. It isnt choppy at all since I use a razor.
To answer the curl questions. I divide in about 3 layers.Starting with the longest layer, clipping the top 2 out of the way. Curl using my 3/4 inch curling iron. Curl a section, and clip it move on to the next. Let down the next layer and curl and clip. By the time you get to the next layer the bottom layer is cooled enough to unclip. (Clipping the curls really helps to get the curls that hold all day!) You dont have to hold the curling iron in the hair long at all since you are clipping it to cool. I think the clipping til cool is what sets the curl. I guess I spend about 20/25 minutes to curl my hair when I do it like this.

Wow sherrie it looks great! I can't wait until I heal from my surgery so I can install my skin wefts. I also have the same problem with the top of my hair. I have never been able to grow it out no matter what, I remember once it my hair was down to my bra strap and I had it highlighted, the top broke off 3 inches long, I had a total mullet! also what products do you use when you color your hair it looks great!

I just use clairol balsam extra light blonde. I used to do very heavy highlights, but Ive cut back on that alot, since that was what was breaking my hair and making it so brittle. Now I just color my roots, which gives me some yellowy almost strawberry colors underneath and my roots. And I do a very light highlight on the top and a few strands throught out on rare occassion, when I feel like Im looking a bit brazzy and need to brighten it up a bit. I used to use all #613 extensions and now I can use #613 #22 and #24 (Could probably start using #27 now too) Im starting to notice alot of improvement in the thickness of my hair lately, so maybe cutting out the bleach is helping.
Eventually (yikes) My goal is to get back to a darker blond/light brown with some blonde highlights, but my hair is so fried that I dont know if it would take color?
