I've been reading a lot lately about at-home shine-enhancing treatments,
and I wonder what they would do to undyed hair. My hair is a light brown
color (even darker underneath) with natural highlights which range from
caramel to light, bright gold. What would a "glaze" like, oh say, John
Frieda Luminous Color Glazes (only $10 a pop at CVS) do to my sweet
virgin strands? Also, I've been advised to use a shade which matches the
color of my lightest highlights - a shade which would undoubtedly be
drastically different from the rest of my hair.
As a student, a professional dye job is not only out of my budget but out
of my stratosphere. As for home dye jobs, I can hardly motivate myself to
phone my parents once a week, let alone maintain an unnatural hair
color. I would, however, like a little...boost, if you will: something to give
me a glimmer, but not a change so drastic that I will have to reassure my
roommate that, yes, this is me and I am not some ridiculous blonde who
accdentally bumbled into our room. So I just wanted to know what a
"shine-enhancing treatment" would do for me. Thanks for your help, and
sorry for the lengthy explanation, just wanted to make my situation clear.

I've never used that product before.

You might consider looking into a Ingora Color Toning mousse.  http://www.evabeauty.com/products/schwarzkopf/

These I have used and are very pretty.  The Medium Auburn Blonde looks very pretty.  Not only do these deposit color, they condition the hair as well.

Another product that I have used you may consider trying is L'Oreal Color Gems, available at Sally Beauty.  There is a clear gloss that may add some shine to your hair.

For the least damaging and changing, try John Frieda Frizz Ease Relax Sheer Reflections, High-Gloss Finishing Spray, but use sparingly.

Good luck and I hope this helps.  Remember to strand test if you decide to use the demi.
