I have very coarse mustache hair & it is completely straight..when I trim or cut it is is very sharp & as a result my wife & grandchild hesitate to kiss me because it hurts them..they say its like kissing a bristle brush !...Can anyone offer any help on how to soften my mustache hair ?..

its okay when it grows for quite awhile & gets long, but then it gets in my way & food etc becomes a nuisance...I'm 54 & have had a mustache most my life..I've shaved it off ( early last yr) but my wife doesn't really like the way I look without it...any helpful suggestions will be greatly appreciated !

My boyfriend is bearded and moustached too, and it grows coarse.  It is indeed stabby!  If you really want to try to do something about it, the only thing I can think of is to try conditioning it with a heavy silicone conditioner (like pantene, or any conditioner with a lot of words near the top of the ingredients that end in "cone").  Leave the conditioner on for a minute or longer, then rinse off and see if that does anything. (I would never be able to get my boyfriend to try it, so it might not do a thing!).

Frankly, instead of letting it bother you, why not turn it into a fun game?  Say "Grandpa's coming to get you with a prickly cactus kiss!" and chase them around the room!

becarefull with conditioner though, coz some people can developed skin irritation from having conditioner on their face.

try coconut oil, or olive oil on your beard/moustache before you sleep. just a little dab will do.

it will soften the beard, a bit.

btw, beards are not like hair, they are naturally tougher and coarser.
