Hi ! :)

For static in hair, which most people think is caused by a lack of moisture -

Rub a dryer sheet, very lightly, over your hair.
Use a tiny bit of oil to help keep moisture in the hair.
Run a humidifier or put bowls of water on radiators.
Use a natural bristle brush - plastic bristles tend to help static.

Hope this helps ~

Does anyone know a good way of dealing with static? I`m having a lot of trouble with that now.

I find I use a great deal more oil in the winter.
When I know I`m going to be outside for more than a few minutes - skiing, walking the dog, etc. I oil lightly, braid the length, wrap it in a cotton scarf and drop it down inside my coat.

I always wear a hat or hood.

I deep condition 2x a month, where in the summer I do that every 6 or 8 weeks.

I keep our house humidified as well, I find that`s good for hair and skin.

Best of luck

My winter time ritual is wearing a head covering at all times when I`m outside. I have often for a black pashmina since it does not disturb my updo when I do decide to wear one...this is very convenient for work.

I still deep condition and add some cones to my routine for the winter months.

I still air-dry although I promised myself I would start bonnet drying, but I hate sitting under the dryer wasting time. I visit my local GM salon for a 1 hr. treatment.

I think that`s it!

Dear Good Girl

In winter, I make sure I never go out with damp hair as I read somewhere that the cold temperature causes the water to freeze and cracks the hair shaft apart.
I also cover my hair up with a close-knit scarf that keeps out the wind and cold, and before I go out, I feed it with a leave-in conditioner (Phyto 9).
I deep condition it every time I wash and make sure it is tied/braided so that the wind cannot penetrate it.
When It gets bitterly cold, I wash it in the evening and apply a light dressing of avocado oil to penetrate overnight. It is soft and strong in the morning and has a resistance to wind/cold/rain.

Hope that helps.
Uzi

We all know that summer time does some nasty things to our hair. But, what about the winter? Where I`m at, the winters get quite nasty and very cold. (Way WAY below zero) So, is a hat and regular conditioning treatments enough? Or does wintertime call for extra special treatment? Does anyone do anything special during the winter months to protect their locks?
