Katherine thank you for answering.

Mike, no photos, sorry. It was a long ago issue of Seventeen magazine of my sister's that was not saved! I'm not even sure if there were photos of her haircut. I think it was an interview where she described them cutting off 8 inches at a time 3 different times.

I noticed you ignored/avoided two of my earlier points here:
B. Typing what you did may have shown you don't think I had the right to say what I said here, but if it's so useless, why even bother? Move on.
C. Everything I wrote is entirely true. Don't you believe a boycott on smoking would have more of an impact than cutting off your hair?
As I also stated, Diane Lane looks amazing in any hairstyle -- short, long or in between. So this hasn't been a list of reasons why she shouldn't cut her hair.
Are you going to swear again to make your next point? I really enjoy it when girls swear.
Another one of Diane's sexy hairstyles can be found here:
I get the feeling that I've hurt the feelings of a smoker.
Nope, no smoker here. Quit eight years ago. ;)
I'm just really tired of people posting all sorts of bullsh*t reasons why women shouldn't cut their hair, why cutting their hair for any reason makes them a stupid person, or what they should do instead of cutting it.
And no, you've not "hurt the feelings of a short-hair-fanatic" (or whatever you call someone who's not totally opposed to the idea of a woman cutting her hair once in a while). I loved Diane Lane's long hair in "Murder at 1600". But that doesn't mean she has to look that way for the rest of her life.

It's just too bad that your "helpful advice" was so completely off topic. This board is about Celebrity Hair -- not about cancer research, anti-smoking campaigns etc. And who were you providing that "helpful advice" for, anyway? You really think Diane Lane is reading this forum?
My suggestions directly followed the TOPIC, which was introduced by Morgan. I get the feeling that I've hurt the feelings of a smoker.
I can't remember ever seeing a bad photo of Diane Lane, with short hair, long hair or in between hair. There are lots of great photos of her on the Diane Lane group on Yahoo. I tried posting them, but they wouldn't show up.
Kramer thanks for the Time photo. Katherine I guess there wasn't any pics? That I would love to seen. Thanks.

I'm going to get historical about Diane Lane. I loved her hair in "A Little Romance" in the 1970s, when it was below waist-length and beautiful. Well, in the early 80's or so, she starred in "The Cotton Club" set in the flapper age of the 1920's. So they gave her a short bob haircut. I still remember reading her interview in my sister's Seventeen magazine. She said it was traumatic to get 24 inches cut off, so they did it in three stages, 8 inches at a time. I remember thinking that was a good idea. So she's gone from long to short before, though quite a while ago. She could probably look good at any length, with her features.

Kramer, she may do all those things. This is one we know about. And it's
noble to want to help out cancer patients. So, she thinks this is a good
idea. I can't see any reason it isn't. But, you're acting like you're the
emperor of how people should give their time, money, and energy to
charity. You've decided she doesn't have a right to smoke and that is
more important than what she's doing here.
Why do people see it as wrong when a celeb decides to help raise money
for a cause instead of giving it all themselves? (They may do give money
too. We just don't know.)
My step-mother had breast cancer and chose to wear wigs. If that's what
Diane is supporting here, more power to her. I've been involved with
charities that have done substantial things and trivial things. My choice.
This is Diane's choice. If people want to donate hair, they can do that. If
they don't, that's fine too. I feel the same way about all charities.

Not really just showing that she could say for this roll I will not smoke. Still I have found any new pic of her showing off her hair. Most on wire or getty are old or her hair is up.

Quickie as far as the whole "you post too much" thing. I love the rottentomatoes movie discussion forums, and they dedicate whole threads to nothing other than getting your number of posts higher. They even entitle the threads as such, and I find it kind of hilarious. Ironically, though I lurk there all the time, and am technically a member, I have yet to post.
I was going to say something sarcastic like, "Alert the media," but it seems like Diane's people already have.
Yes, it's nice to do something for cancer patients. And if your reputation can be enhanced along the way...
I guess I compare it to athletes who visit young sick kids in the hospital with TV camera crew in tow. It makes you wonder why they do it in the first place.
In the current (April 3) issue of US Weekly there is an interview with Diane Lane about her upcoming haircut.
Diane's Haircut for Charity
The mane event: in July, Diane Lane, 41, will lop off her locks live on NBC's Today show. Why? As spokeswoman for the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign (a joint endeavor with the Entertainment Industry Foundations Women's Cancer Research Fund), she's encouraging women to donate their hair to cancer patients in need of wigs. Lane tells us about her role.
Why did you get involved?
Cancer has devestated the lives of many people I know and love. And I like the intimacy of giving a part of myself - literally - and asking others to do so too. That's going to be worth teh shock of cold air on my neck.
Is your long hair long enough to donate?
I've been growing it out since the fall. I have to grow three more inches, but I'm going to get there by July.
Are you anxious?
I'm hoping (my husband Josh Brolin) thinks I'm as cute with two inches of hair as I am with 20.

Diane Lane is not only donating her hair. The most important thing she is doing for the institution is to alloy them to use her name in the campaign. So it doesn't matter if her hair is good or not (thought I think she will take care of it in the next months, before the cut).

I said to myself that I wouldn't get into this topic with Ann and now Diane but I just feel I have to now. I have been cutting hair for 10+ years now and I am actually a short hair specialist (yes, our salon is big enough to have specialist like this). I can't tell you how many times I have had someone come in and tell me they wanted to cut off all of their hair. I would tell them about Locks of Love or Wigs for Kids and they had never heard of it. After I cut it off, they would reply "If I had known about this, I would have done this years ago".
I think it is great that Diane and Ann are doing what they are doing to get the word out. Since we are part of the world of hair and see this stuff every day, you all assume that EVERYONE knows about it. Believe it or not, there are MANY who have never heard of Locks of Love and even less that have heard of Beautiful Lengths.
Neither Diane or Ann are holding people down and cutting their hair off. They are not forcing anyone to do anything...they are just getting the word out. I am really sorry that a few people on this board think it is the worst thing in the world to cut someones hair for ANY reason. That is what I love about this country.....freedom of speech. You might not like what others say, but that doesn't mean you have to do it.
And while I am on my soapbox, why do people have to respond to EVERY post on here? It drives me crazy to see people on this board for less than a year and have hundreds or thousands of posts. Look how long I have been a part of this board and how many posts I have made. Funny how I am a Newbie when I have been here longer than most of you who are Seniors.
I am not turning this into a short-versus long debate or anything, but I consider Ms. Lane's donation to be fairly worthless in this regard. LOL has gotten a bad reputation for making profit off a lot of the hair they receive. (Am not certain about the reputation of the organization Ms. Lane is giving her hair to.) And given the fact that extensions can cost somewhere between the hundreds to thousands of dollars, I bet LOL makes a lot of money.
Lane is an actrsss, and chances are her hair has been colored at some point. Color treated hair is not really good for wigs and/or extensions. Also, synthetic wigs tend to hold up better in the long run. So what good does her donation really do?
BTW - it sounds cool that your salon features such specialized stylists. Kudos to you.
Weather Forcast - With high humidity in the air, expect general hair frizziness to continue :-/
