QuoteReplyTopic: Super thick hair, my first install Posted: April 06 2006 at 6:11pm
I used the microlinks for the first time and i must say they are much faster than what i am used to (braiding).
It turned out pretty good but her (my daughter) has SUPER thick straight hair so it was a little hard to blend. Even after a trip to the salon to get her natural hair razored, which is not really a big deal cause her hair is so thick that she usually gets it thinned every haircut anyway.
The extensions feel really thin even though i used 2 full packages of links. There were supposed to be 200 in each, but i seriously doubt the second had 200. There is no way i got 400 on her head.
So what is the secret for applying extensions to really thick hair? I went all the way to her crown, applied to ALL of her hair (no skipped sections, except about 1/2in all the way around the edges) and the hair i pretipped was tight getting into the links so i assume there was enough hair in each strand.
All comments welcome!! Thanks!

My first install was for a Russian girl with bum length super thick hair. I couldn't believe it when she walked in. She arrived looking like most people leave. Un-satisfied with her 22"/23" hair she wanted to go even longer.
Although it did look very nice after install (though an unneccessary jom in my humble opinion) I realised that day that any thicker than that and it wouldn't matter what hair/method/standard of extensionist you used, you could never match the thickness. There simply isn't the room on your head.
You can always chip the ends and/or razor the length of the natural hair after install to thin it out.
Tough job that I don't really know the solution to!
