I posted my hair dye disaster over in Hair Color - (I'll never use color again).
I just came back from the dermatologist today and he is treating my scalp with a topical steroid and cortisone. I had my hair highlighted at a salon which caused an allergic reaction. Even though I saw my allergist right away, my scalp has continued to bother me now for four months. I thought waiting it out would help. But since my hair continues to fall out and break, I just hope I didn't do permanent damage to the follicles. And this was my first time ever with bleach and a toner. Before that I used a semi-permanent rinse that washed out, maybe 3 times in my life. I'm middle aged and only had minimal grey hair.
Always have your stylists do a strand test - this would have saved me a lot of heart ache and discomfort. Second, don't wait to get help.
Just had to log on to offer genuine sympathy. Your experience sounds really bad. My own scalp must be made of leather because I used dye for 25 years without any problems. I stopped last year and my hair hasn't looked this good since I was 25!
4 months isn't very long really although it must seem like it with such an uncomfortable scalp. I hope everything turns out ok for you.
