Hairlocs Help!!

Hi Everyone! I have never been to this site before, but am desperate for help with Hairlocs.  I am newly certified and just applied my second full head on one of my regular clients yesterday.  She called today and said they were falling out in clumps and shedding and I'm really stressed out!! I want to give my clients the best, and that is what I thought I was doing by getting certified for Hairlocs and now I'm afraid I have wasted both my money and my client's.

I called the company and they were not much help at all, aside from saying she probably used conditioner near the locs or has an oily scalp or maybe the wax tip was coming out of the loc.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what should I do to fix it?

I haven't seen her yet...I will see her on Sunday morning.  I thought I was clamping them down hard enough, but maybe not.  Should I go through and re-clamp them again? I'm so embarrassed that this happened because she's been getting Great Lengths and Cindarella for a couple of years now, which has been breaking off her hair, so I tried to find a method that would be safer, but if they fall out, she'll just go right back to Great Lengths!

i have been doing hairlocs for over 4 yrs now-

did u use enough hair of hers to put into loc? did u crimp them closed or close the top and bottom? the hairlocs class is ok, however your hands on and experience is what will get u thru all of this. there are a few different things u can do to insure they stay in.etc.

its difficult to say why they are comming out. where are u located. lets see if i can help

I have been away from the board for awhile but happened to stop by and see this topic. I am also Hairlocs certified and here is what I have found: Most of the problems come from CLIENT care at home. You HAVE to be sure to really educate them on how to properly care for the extensions. ( how to brush, washing, products to use, sleeping with hair tied back, etc.) Be sure to send them home with specific instructions on paper. That way it's not just in one ear, out the other. I see some clients who keep the hair looking BEAUTIFUL-- no mats, very few strands lost. Then some come in with a BIRDSNEST! It is matted or they have lots of slippage and old conditioner stuck in under the shells! ( no-no) They just don't listen. She may have very slippery hair that requires you clamp down and crimp really really well. However, I personally do not like to "crimp" as I find it increases the risk of damage. Just a thought for you!
