OK, Hey all!

This is going to be a beginner question... i read the stickies but am a little overwhelmed at all the information.

I want to give MYSELF, with perhaps a little help from my mother, a head of loose extensions.  My hair is already past my shoulders.

I have narrowed my choice down to microlinks and shrinkies.  It looks like they are equally popular.

My question is, what type of hair is required for each?

I am confused about pretipped, weft and cutting.  So, do I buy a baggy of hair or a weft or what?

I am sure this has been asked before, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

:)

have you thought about pro-tac tape and wefts? It is very very simple for a newbie...and as a LONG time extensions wearer I find it the best option for me! I love the easy installs and removals!

oh really?  i looked at that... like i said, information overload.

with the protac, how many would be required for a full head?

And I want a highlight effect so would I layer different wefts through my hair?

That does sound easier.... :)

Thankyou!

Its so very simple! Usually 5 or 6 strips is enough tapes. Yes you can layer diffenrent colors of wefts or you just use small pieces of weft in highlight/lowlights colors added to the tapes with your base color wefts.

If you do a seach on pro-tac on this forum you will find tons of posts.

Here is a thread that I did on pro-tac:

Also I did a 'half a$$ed demo on the protac here:

Well, welll. Soo many options out there! It does get frustrating. I have tried pretty much everyhting exept wefts. And not to mention all types of hair. My personal recommendation is to to microlinks with pre tipped hair. I just pre tipped some bohyme hair and it was a pain in the !@# . It was hard to get the bonds the right size, etc. etc. Now I will buy pretipped only.
Current install: 18" Bohyme 18/22 mixed with 613 -200 microlinks.....pre tipped by me!!! (never again!)
