Okay this is my second haircut and I do not want it f'ed up this time or I'll give up on waves.
Anyway... Heres a pic off my head right now.
S I was gonna ask for a taper (thats the even cut right?) and tell him to cut on the grain (or how eva my waves go) with no sclp showing. Is that a good choice?
Oh, If you know that you barber wont comb your hair before he cuts...do you ask him to do it? Or do you comb it yourself before you go?

fam, you asking a lot of questions not to knock you but you have gotten your haircut before right?
a taper/tape-up is a dark ceaser with the sides and back lighter than the rest of your head. If you want an all even cut get a dark ceaser or ceaser doesnt matter weather its ATG or WTG. I heard a 1.5cut is good too. As for combing your hair before your barber cuts it does NOT really make a difference. If your tired of barber's messin your head up start cuttin your own hair. Economics
The biggest thing you need to do is....FIND A GOOD BARBER. Just tell him u want it even and dark, w/ no scalp showing. A taper is a slight fade on the sides and back. Some peoples hair is affected when gettin cut 'against the grain'...so its all up to you and your barber...too be on the safe side I'd go 'with the grain'. I know w/ my texture I have to get cut 'w/ the grain'...but lookin at ur texture u could proly get cut either way, but dont take my word for it. Some peoples hair wont cut much off when gettin cut w/ the grain. As for combin/brushin b4 u goto the barber, I always brush my hair really good b4 I go in. If you like combing, u could do that too, it really doesnt matter, but it'll make ur barbers job a lil easier. If he brushes or combs it while hes cuttin, than thats kool. But like I said from the get...u might tell a barber exactly how u want it and he'll still f**k up so...FIND A GOOD BARBER. Ask around, or pay attention to their cuts when ur in the shop.

the most important thing is to find a good barber. if you dont have a good barber, you will have to work twice as hard and your results will be limited.
