QuoteReplyTopic: Going Grey Noooooo Posted: April 28 2006 at 11:40am
I am getting alot of white hairs particularly on the left side so I am going to have some highlights to cover them can't use Henna long story anyway I'm really upset about this as I was counting on a few more years before going noticeably grey I am sure the stress of the last year has a lot to do with it.Do you think stress induced grey hair could be reversed with supplements I've heard of people saying their hair has regained it's colour with certain ones

I'm sorry that you're upset about your greys I've been grey since I was about 16, and as far as I know it's determined by your genes rather than your lifestyle or any deficiencies in your diet. When I was 16 I was VERY healthy and definitely not stressed
What is it that you don't like about grey hair? I think grey and silver hair is very beautiful and can look stunning on some people. I have a secret fantasy of letting my hair be grey and never coloring over it, but in my case the cooler colours look really bad on me and I'd just look strange Besides, I love henna
Let us know how your highlights turn out! Do you have any pics?
I too like the look of gray, and I won't be coloring over mine (I
earned it by golly!). Like Rini, I'm a little afraid it won't go
that well with my complexion, but we'll see when it happens. It
sounds like yours is growing in one streak? I always thought that
looked particularly neat, and hope mine grows that way! We have
two kinds of grays in my genes. Some of my ancestors grow white
streaks which look really neat, and the rest of their head keeps their
natural color into their 60s. The other ancestors got gray that
grows all over in salt and pepper zig zag kinks that stick straight up
in the air.
I thought I heard about that reversing gray thing with MSM? But I
don't remember for sure, and frankly, I wouldn't have thought anything
could make gray hair have pigment again. Anybody else know?

Unluckily, I take MSM each day since several months now. On doctor's advice ... for arthrosis (correct translation I hope). I still have grey hairs here and there (just like before) and I still have the same fine hair (just as before). The only proven effect of MSM (according to my doc who follows a lot of studies about food supplements for her patients) is to improve the quality of soft tissue in your joints. Just as Glucosamine and chondroitine do.
Maybe that others (by a small relief in pain form their joints) get so happy they report other side effects as well (grey hair gone, fine hair getting thicker, ...) ?????

Sadly my mothers family go fuzzy grey quite young. I'm hoping to follow my fathers family, where they get softer, white hair. And I hope that won't be for a while yet. Though I am very stressed.
Thank you for sharing your pic, Nastasska. I don't see any grey at all! I've heard that an herb called (among other things) "ho shou wu" helps reduce grey (google might lead you to some helpful sites. from one: "The name SHOU-WU literally means "a head full of black hair" in Chinese."). I've also read that zinc helps hair retain its pigment. I hope this helps.

Nastasska, your hair is such a pretty color! And you have a nice nose. Isn't it funny how we are our own worst critics? (I am hard on my nose as well as other features....)
As for greying hair, I happened upon this diet for greying hair somewhere along the line. The woman who posted it claimed her dad's hair turned back to black after awhile on this diet, and that her own hair stopped becoming increasingy grey. I haven't followed this diet yet, but even if it doesn't work for greying hair, it is a super healthy diet:
lots of water; no dairy; no sugar; soy; brown rice; multi grain bread; fresh juices; no pork; only fresh fish for seafood; lots of veggies including fresh greens; only olive oil for added fat.
