I apply peroxide (plain old peroxide in the brown bottle) to my root area and selected pieces of hair for highlights. My hair is brown originally, lightened to a dark blonde. I really didn't like how the color turned out, so eventually, I'm going to to go back to brown. But, in the meantime, I use peroxide to match my roots to the rest of my hair. I think it does a good job. I guess it can be damaging over time. I just do a few applications. Contrary to popular demand, it doesn't turn my brown hair orange, though I don't know what it would do to black hair. You can sit in the sun to maximize the effect, though I've gotten to the color I want w/o sun. My hair gets remarkedly lighter just being outdoors in warm weather, so I think I'm going to see what it does to my color before I go back to brown. There is a bit of brassiness overall, but I've been covering that up with a temporary dye (Fancifull). Also, some people on another hair board I visit mix a little honey with their conditioner. Honey is a humectant, a good moisturizer, and it lightens hair - some have seen results in a couple of weeks.
lemon juice on black hair=to slightly if your lucky orangey color and you may end up with a uneven haircolor lightness
Don't do it use bleach if you want to lighten your hair. My friend uses lemon juice when she goes to the beach but her hair is light blonde. Personaly you can't control the lightens of your hair with lemons and you may over dry your hair.
Hi there! i read that lemon juice can be used to lighten the color of hair ( black for me ). Will lemon juice spoil my scalp or hair? the thought of something highly acidic....
