Bleaching

Hi, last night i did a strand test on my hair, my hair is very dark brown, basically black, i left it on for about an hour and 15 mins, it appeared to be blonde, but after washing and drying it i found it was ginger.

I want to bleach some of my fringe and was wondering if the same thing happened, could i re bleach it so it goes from ginger to blonde? or if i just left it on for longer would it go blonde?
