QuoteReplyTopic: Childs Hair Dye Disaster Posted: May 14 2006 at 8:37am
My oldest daughter thought my 12 year old would look better as a blonde. She tried to dye her hair with a blonde hair color. When it didn't work she tried it a second time. Needless to say, my 12 year old has 'BRIGHT ORANGE" hair.
A few weeks later I attempted to color her hair back to her natural medium brown color, but to no avail. It is still "orange". I asked a couple of hair stylists if they would help and they wouldn't touch it.
Any suggestions on what I can do at home to fix the orange hair with the dark roots? Adolescence is tough enough without a major bad hair year.

Thats terrible the salon you went to for help , didn't offer to help , it gives us hairdresser's a bad name. The blonde hair colour your daughter used on your 12 yr old would not lift the colour pigments out your daughter's hair, it would only lift it too 1 1/2 shades lighter , leaving it an orange tone. You will have to apply a semi of your daughters natural colour first to put back the pigments taken out and this will stain the hair, to prevent colour fade , then apply a permanent colour of your daughters natural colour, this should bring her hair back to normal. I would also advice a good conditioning treatment for your daughter's hair, cos all this colouring does cause damage to the hair. If your daughter wanted to go blonde when she is a little older , the only way to do this is to bleach the hair first , then apply a toner to cool the colour down a little.
Hope this helps a little , good luck
