I agree with the ladies about using castor oil. I have seen great improvement in my hair since incorporating it in my regimen. I use it for pre-poos, around my edges, and also sometimes to seal in my moisturizers.
I have found out, that I have to be careful with Redken Anti-Snap. Therefore, I use it very infrequently. It is loaded with protein, and a protein overload took my hair a long time to recover. But, then again everyone's hair is different. I have 2 bottles of Jamaican Castor oil on it's way, and I can hardly wait to receive them . As a child that is what my Mom used on my hair when I lived in Jamaica, and my hair grew to BSL.
Make sure that you follow-up your protein treatements with a moisturizer, a good one is Moisturfuse.

Hey blaque i am also trying to grow back breakage areas and I started to see some results with castor oil...I also recently put my hair in braids to give it a break...if you haven't done a protein treatment I would recommend Apoghee for damanged hair
Blah, Oils make my hair lifeless and greasy. Ive been told that the less products you put in your hair, the more it will grow. The thermal serum has worked for everyone Ive recommended it to. It does a lot more than just protect your hair from heat! I def credit those two products for my fast hair growth. Its a necessity for me and many other people I know. Ima still sing its praises.

A must buy is the Redken Anti-Snap leave in conditioner... it works wonders!!!! A pro hair stylest with a lot of experience recommended it for me. I havent had any breakage or split ends since. It's also the best detangler Ive used! I also use this in my hair when I want to wear it natural, it works sooo well!! My hair was shoulder length and now its almost to my bra strap. It's so much healthier, stronger and silkier. This is the only product I have used that actually works! Its lightweight and its a great protectant whenever you blow dry your hair. These products contain protien in them which is very, very good for your hair. I also use the Mizani Therma Strength Strengthening Style Serum. This is great before blow drying and after (if you use a straightening iron). This product is a NECESSITY, too. Its very lightweight and conditioning. Honestly, I cant have one with out the other. They work very well together.
I get pomace b olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil ,palm oil and sweet almond oil from www.thechemistrystore.com Safflower oil and grapeseed oil- i get at my local Giant grocery store. Wildgrowth hair oil can be found at your local Sally's.
Pre-poo is where you apply the oil to you scalp and ends and then put a thin plastic cap on and a satin scarf to hold it in place (this is done overnite prior to shampoo day) or you can do the same thing on the day you plan to poo minus satin scarf and sit under the dryer for 15-20 mins prior to pooing. It helps keep the shampoo from drying and stripping your hair so much.

Perhaps cut the broken hairs back close to your scalp so that the ends are a bit cleaner and not fragile when it grows back. Also I've found Wild Growth Hair Oil pretty good for encouraging length in fragile areas.
I've had this problem before and you can definitely encourage growth in the broken areas without sacrificing the length of the healthy hair. You just have to make sure you pay the fragile area attention.
i would use castor oil as a pre-poo weekly and use Jherri Rhedding 100% natural protein conditioner(sally's) every 4-6 weeks. Also make sure that u are deep conditioning for 45-60 mins every time you wash.
