QuoteReplyTopic: My new clip ins!! Posted: June 02 2006 at 3:45pm
Hey everyone!!!
I just wanted to say that everyone here has such great advice and this is such a lovely forum. I finally followed everyone's advice and went out and bought some hair and made my own clip ins. I've never worn extensions before and I've always kept my hair quite short. But I went and bought some hair and cut it up and sewed on the clips. I also trimmed the hair and stuff.
Anyway I haven't worn them out in public yet because I'm a bit self concious and wanted to know what you ladies (the professionals!!:) ) thought of them first. Or if you had any constructive criticism or anything like that. I couldn't figure out how to post pictures, but I have some in my fotki albums, the website is: http://public.fotki.com/aseya/ and both passwords are: nizlopi .
I would love to wear them out this weekend, so if you guys can let me know what you think and whether I should add more hair or not. I think I need more hair, but I don't want to look like cousin it!!:) Thanks!!
Despite the breakage, you seem to be blessed with a gorgeous thick head of hair so you're lucky. You could add a few more to thicken up the ends of the hair but it really isn't essential.
I agree, it looks great as is, but you could add a little more for thickness. Either way you look lovely with long hair.....isnt a great how long hair makes you feel like a DIVA!
Hey you guys! Thanks so much! I think I may put in another row..I'm going to try them out tonight and see how that goes first..cuz the hairs a bit expensive hehe.
I do have a styling question though..How do you curl clip ins? Do you put the rollers/use the curling iron first, and then put them in? Or put them in THEN use the tools? And how often do you was them?
Sorry, I have loads of questions. But thanks for all the compliments and advice! xoxo
Aseya, I think that they also look great ! You got the sweep bang in the front which I love and then layered it all the way around. I do also agree that one more right in the middle and a little product and your good to go !!!
Now I just posted this on another thread but how do you make the clip in pieces ? Do you just sew the clips to the weft in a looping techinque ? How many clips do you recommend for the wefts pieces and far should they be spaced out ?
To curl them I would pin them to a stryofoam manikin head & either rollet set them or use a bump iron ( wide barrel / flat iron ) to curl them depending on what style you wanna acheive.

Yeah the breakage sucks! When it was shorter, the longer hair would lay ontop of the short, broken ones and the short ones would push the long hair up, so my hair was like constantly 'puffy'. It's a bit better now.
I just cut up the weft, (I think into 9 peices, different lengths..I just kinda modelled them on the clip ins that you buy). And I just double looped some heavy duty thread in the clips to secure them to the weft.
I hope that helped!!:)

Wow! What a difference! You look great with your own hair, but wow! With the extensions! And how cool to have made them yourself! I so understand about feeling shy about showing your new hair off at first. I was SURE I looked foolish. You go out there with confidence, girl! You're fabulous!
