I'm going to be getting a haircut soon, but the problem is I can't find a decent picture.  Last time I tried explaining it turned out confusing so i'd really like to be able to show her something. My hair is about 2 inches past my shoulders. I want to keep my length but add some layers. I want the shortest layer kind of by my ear and have longer layers added.  I want it to turn out as a kind of shaggy/rock star kind of look. (like The Veronicas...if anyone knows who they are) I've been searching for pictures and I can't find the right one.
 
Can anyone help me find a picture...or be able to explain it better?

Do you want the hair by your ears or in the back to be cut in layers or just the hairs near your face or in front of the ears?

Thanks for the pictures...do you think she'd be able to cut my hair right using them though? I wasn't sure if they were clear enough.

That shows how the shorter layers. The layers start kind of by the ear, but i'm not sure if it's just by the face or in the back too. In the picture it's by her face but I think it might be only because the ones by the face won't reach into the ponytail.

Practise explaining how you want it cut with us. If we were your stylist what would you tell us.

Okay, I want my hair with short layers that start about the ear. The second picture shows how those short layers should look when I put my hair up. The first pictures shows how my hair should look down. My length should stay about the same, just trimmed a little bit so it's should a couple inches below my shoulder.
 
I'm not sure what else to say. Does it look like there are longer layers in her hair too?
