Try putting a good leave in conditioner with setting lotion. When I do this to my hair it has the crimps but still looks silky and shiny and doesn't frizz.

I've always made braidouts on hair that is dry rather than wet.  Since I don't use heat, I rollerset my hair and airdry it that way to straighten and smooth it.  When dry, I braid my hair.  I love the pretty waves and it doesn't have as much shrinkage this way.  I've been doing this for 3 years now.

Maybe you should try braiding your hair when its dry then spritz it with water then let it airdry.

When you braid on wet hair make sure to use a good leave in then seal it with oil. Lack of moisture can make your braid out look rough and dry. Been there done that! LoL

i find that when i do a braid out on wet just washed hair the result is pretty but its kinda rough and dry looking(sort of looked like shakira's hair,, sloppy),, i tried flat ironing a section then braided it up and the crimps were there but the hair was smooth and neater,, i just dont want it to go all flat on me,,anyone done this?? its kinda silly lol cuz its using heat then braiding.....
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED
