QuoteReplyTopic: Question for my Maxiglide users! Posted: June 23 2006 at 3:27pm
Hey;
I'm taking my braids out this weekend and straightening it. I returned my other flat iron, Jilbere, and got the maxiglide from BB&B for $79.99.
Anyway, I'm reading mixed reviews on Folica.com about the product. I want to know how my fellow forum members use theirs.
I read some reviews that the small teeth in the plate pull the hair and they perfer the smooth plate. Is that true for some/most of you? I also read that it stops working after 3-6 months. Has anyone had that problem?
Do the wide plates get to the roots well?
Thanks for the help! I'll post pics in journal.

Hello there, I love my maxiglide. I haven't had a problem with the teeth on the plate and I think that it helps get the hair even smoother. You just want to make sure you comb the section of hair smooth before you use the maxiglide. If you got the dvd I would recomend watching it because it helped me out alot. I am not sure how long you kept your braids in but I am stretching 2mon in mine so when I use it I like to use the steam option (distilled water only) because it helps soften the hair. I have had mine for over a few months not sure if it been quite 6 yet but I have never had a problem with it. And BB &B is good about return/exchage with a receipt. HTH
It has worked better than any other flat iron that I have personally owned, however, it isn't what I was expecting. It could have been better.
My roots did not get as straight as I get them in a salon, and the teeth on the plate did pull my hair at times. I do see the purpose of the teeth, but having them only on the edge would work better in my opnion.
It is a bit too bulky. I'd perfer a 1/2 inch to inch plate.
I will be taking it back to BB&B and continue my search for another flat iron. Looks like I'll be coming off $100 or more for the right iron.
