QuoteReplyTopic: SHE CUT MY HAIR OFF!! Posted: April 23 2006 at 1:12pm
Ok, yesterday I went in to Fantastic Sam's, thinking I was going to go about 2-3 inches shorter (or whatever that would be, I wanted it just below my shoulders) ..Well, guess what. The lady completely chopped my hair off.
Here was my hair a couple weeks ago; it was brown, but that's just so you get an idea of the length it was yesterday (before the cut)*Picture*
I picked out a picture in a book while I was there but told her "I don't want it this short, I want it at least to my shoulders!" ..My hair is about an inch maybe 1½ above my shoulders. It looks absolutely horrible. While she started cutting, I about cried, then felt like I was going to pass out. My sister was getting her's cut too, and she started laughing, but I think it was just in disbelief. Then afterword, the lady said "Well, if it makes you feel any better, it needed to be cut, it was way over processed."
I know this might sound stupid, but I'd rather have dry, over processed hair than look stupid with all my hair chopped off. She was also suppose to do layers and once she was just finished cutting it completely around, I told her to stop.
Honest to god, so far, everytime I look in the mirror I cry or about break down. I know this sounds stupid, but I look awful. I can hardly even put it in a ponytail without some of it falling out. The only way it will stay up is if it has mousse and it's completely dry. ..I'm so pissed. I guess there isn't something that will make my hair grow faster I suppose? Anyone know how long hair takes to grow?

I feel really sorry for you; all I can say is that I hope your hair grows fast and that you can find a way to wear it at the moment that makes you feel confident and happy. You have a really pretty face so I'm sure that no haircut could make you look bad. It must be a shock getting used to the change, though. Take care.
p.s. hope you didn't pay for it!

Going to Fantastic Sam's was your first problem. They simply SUCK! Stylists who can't get jobs in respectable salons end up at Fantastic Sam's, Regis, Supercuts and other chain salons where the work is HORRIFIC!!!
NEVER! NEVER EVER goto one of those dumps!
Pay the extra $5.00 at a decent salon and you'll be much happier.
BTW hair grows about 1/2" per month on average....there are no vitamins or miracle cure to make your hair grow faster so save your money.....

Thanks guys. I know I shouldn't have went there, but my sister was going and I was in desprate need of something. Not for all my hair to be chopped off though. It looks as if I fell asleep first at a party, this being my punishment .. and someone there did this. It's horrible. (And I paid for it.) I could just imagine me refusing and her saying "WELL THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED." and causing a bigger scene. Everyone was already looking at me because I was freaking out.. She wasn't too nice to begin with.
I'm just glad I have a little support here. Oh, I was wondering also, is there any shampoos & conditioners any of you would reccomend that makes your hair either look or feel healthy? Would 'J. Michaels Salon' be one of those places not to go to also? I seems as more of a respectable place, I just don't have tons of choices.
I went to a cheap place too for layers. I have layers put in all the time so i figured it was no biggie. She cut them way too short, and it was nearly impossible to deal with! My hiar is wavy, so I had to really work with it to keep it from sticking straight out of my head. Now, a month later, the layers are growing out and look much better. In another month or so, the lenght will be perfect. Live and learn I guess. And no more cheap salons. This time I promise!

I had this happen to me in January. Now 3 months later, it is starting to actually look good (not as long as it was) but at least I can live with it until it grows all the way back to where it was. It is hard to accept what has been done to you and you will be upset for a while, but I promise, it does get better sooner than you think it will.

Oh my God That happened to me too, my hair was almost to my waist. I told the lady that i wanted it layers and shoulder length, She cut cut cut and cut, I was stupid cause i didn't tell her to stop so she kept snipping. I wanted to cry so bad also. When I got home I cried and Cried. And I promised to myself never to cut it that short again, It looked almost like a mullet (yuck)........

omg that happened to me well it wasnt pretty i had it cut up to my ears but i have to say it looked a lot better than my current hair blooper HAIR DYE IS EVIL i think it should be outlawed or something would have saved me a lot of heartace and enbarressment all we have is time to grow it out for me my hair grows about 1inch a mounth is that weard ps hope it works out for you
The sell them on the HSN shopping network on tv, and will actually make you hair look longer and fuller.
I once had a similar experience. I went in for a 1-2" trim (my hair was two inches below my shoulders, and came out with a cut level with my ears. It looked like a bowl.
I knew it looked horrible as it was a deffinite change and not one person said a word about it.
I wish I knew about hair extensions. I t would have made a big difference. The whole time I was in the chair she was gabbing to the beautician next to her. I kept telling her not to cut it too short, but she just ignored me.
When I complained about it she said, "I gave you a haircut that I thought would look good on you."
Now I go to a local salon. No more "chains" for me!!!
I wanted my hair cut short. i showed a pic and she told me she couldnt do it but that she can do it similar to the pic. She cut it and to be honest I freaked at first. It was all sticking up (because she ruffled it up) and it looked really embarrasing! I then managed to flatten it down, put a kwl hair band in it and it looked good enough. Now, about 2 months after my hair has actually grown a bit. I only just got hair straighteners last week and i keep straightening my hair and it looks slick and better then ever!
It may seem a BAD mistake but trust me, sometimes change is good and while it grows you might find a new cool style!
I am a male having full length long hair up to my waist. Last week i went for shaving and oil massage. The hair dresser insisted that i cut my hair as it was very feminine to have long hair. Instead of doing what they were told to do they were giving advices to me on the length of hair for men and women/
Actually it is not the place where i usually go. Always i stick to one hair dresser, but when he was away on some vacation , these people irritated me. To start with before shaving they applied french plaits on my hair and they shaved my face and removed my moustaches also
I felt very bad and embarassed

It is nice to get feedback. No they did not cut my hair. I love my hair very much. and i also take proper care of it. The problem is i live in a place where there are no takers for long hair on men. I am happy that my wife is supportive of this. In fact my wife plaits me often, that is O.K. but i cannot have this at the compulsion of others. Not exactly a compulsion, but sort of a pushy behaviour.
Can u please suggest me some good plait/bun styles for me
