I wanted to try wrapping my hair to avoid heat from the blow dryer. My question is does your hair have to be completely relaxed for this to work?

I have tried to avoid using heat completely. The only time I really put heat on my hair is when I sit under a dryer with a roller set and then blow dry (only the roots) a little bit afterwards.

Can heat from sitting under a dryer with a roller set still be damaging to the hair?Or is it  considered safe heat?

well its indirect heat so it's not near as bad as curling/flat irons or blowdrying (direct heat)......I don't know if there is such thing as "safe heat" because heat it heat and how damaging it is depends on the frequency of its use......So I guess its "safe" as long as your hair stays healthy..HTH

To get a little bend at the ends your hair doesn't have to be freshly relaxed to get a  wrap but it can't be natural.

I roller set my hair too. It is healthier than using a blow dryer or iron because the temperature is lower and there isn't the additional stress of having a blow dryer comb or pulling of a flat iron in addition to the heat. My hair is relaxed and I wear it stick straight with a bend at the ends so this method works for me, I'm not sure how relaxed it has to be but natural won't work.

I really try to avoid heat too, but its hard because my hair is ear length.  Its also fine and moves out of place easily.  I've been trying to lately...however its not working.  What do you all do keep heat to a minimum.

To help keep my heat use to a minimum I make sure I wrap EVERY night so that in the morning (even if its not looking its freshest) it at least looks decent so I don't have to smooth with heat. I'll just pull back in a ponytail or loose bun. Since your hair is shorter, Trying using a cute head band to keep your hair in place and also give you some sort of style unitl your next shampoo, condition.
