I have been searching for a good leave in conditioner with UV protection, an actual SPF number. I am out in the sun for many hours a day that is why I needed to know if anyone knows this is a good product to use.
Or would the products by phyt01ogie be better. Their products stated they had UV protection, but I didn't see any SPF number. I would really appreciate any help, from someone who has experience with Sun care products.
I think one of the problems is that there seems to be no conclusive evidence that sunscreens work in hair products. Obviously, sunscreens do work very well on the skin, but other than companies who produce these products, I've never seen any real research into.
Does anyone know of any studies that prove that sunscreen in hair products actually work? I'd be very interested in reading about them.
This is from the book I have Do not go shopping for hair-care products without me by Paula Begoun www.cosmeticscop.com and you can find out information there. It says How can you best protect your hair? A hat/ or staying out of direct sunlight are the only viable alternatives. Another possible optio, though not neccessarily aesthetically pleasing, would be totake whatever SPF15 or higher that also contains a UVA- protecting ingredient- either titanium dioxide, zinc oxide,or avobenzone (butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane) I would look at her website. I do not believe that they do have actual proof that anything ( product) can be used as a sunscreen on your hair. Good Luck!!
