QuoteReplyTopic: how to install wefted extensions Posted: July 21 2006 at 12:55am
So I decided to go for the wefts again. The first time I bought them, I used a bonding glue. Big mistake. It was gross, the wefts showed through, and I constantly had to put more bond on them everyday. Then I got some clip ins. They are fast and easy to put in, but I feel alot more self conscience when they are in, cause they could easily slip out. And here I am again with wefts. I was looking for tutorials on here, but can't find any I can really understand. I like the track idea, but I can't even do a french brain let alone a horizontal cornrow. Can anyone help out a girl? I know I want to tie in a weft, I just don't know where to start! Thanks

Look up pro-tac . It's awesome!!! very easy to do yourself, I did it for the first time and am loving it!!! and the way it's applied you can't see the wefts!
Current Install: European hair two rows triple wefted on bottom double wefted on top, with Protac
yep the protac is about the easiest method going. If you do a search on the forum you should come up with lots of info. Here is a protac demo to check out
yes, LG is messy to work with, but it works good. Using a syringe will cut down on some of the messiness.
The tapes are easier to use than LG and alot faster. Yes you can shower and swim with protac. Its best to get the bond area dry well after showering and swimming. Most people are wearing for about 4-6 weeks
Well I called alot of beauty stores and they don't carry it. Aside from getting it online, are there any substitutes for the tape than pro-tac? I'm getting a feeling regular 3M double sided tape won't work.....

no 3M double sided tape wont work. I think what Mailbu meant was that you probably can purchase some type of toupee tape or wig tape in a BSS, but as far as I know you wont find any products in a BSS that has the hold of pro-tac
Oh...I get it. Well maybe they (BSS) would have toupee tape... Can I ask what is different about Pro-tac verse regular tape? I know it would be stronger, but how is it stronger....how does it stay in so long....and where do I find a remover....thanks

Yes, that's what I was referring to. I don't know how strong the tape
is at the BSS store. It may last a week? If you're in a crunch
it's worth a try. Or get Liquid Gold. Come to think of it, I don't know
where you live and if you'll find that.
Let us know what you did and don't forget to post pictures.

so you can swim with the protac in? I am supposed to go to the lake this weekend, and I am nervous to get the tape in the water because I definately don't want my hair floating away from me .. that would be kinda embarassing

I know it's old school and hated by many but yes, I actually still use the latex.lol. I never really have a prob with it. the taking out CAN have it's times where it becomes messy, sticky gross but when I used LG it never worked any better for me. however, I do use it when I add a few stand highlites. it's good for making your own tips.
