QuoteReplyTopic: thinking about cutting my hair short. Posted: July 26 2006 at 6:37am
I have thick curly below 1 inches off the shoulders. I am been thinking about cutting it short for the last 6 months. When I go to the hair dresser I say trimmed it. I do not have to the nerve to go through it. I always hated short hair. Now I have doubts about short hair. I guess that is why I do not have the nerve to cut it. I was thinking of cutting it chin length or half up my neck.
Do anybody have any sugeestions that I can work up the nerve to do it.
I'm a little confused. It might help to know why you hate short hair. And also why you are thinking about cutting it. Obviously, the two feelings are conflicting! But finding the reasons may help you decide what to do.

The reason I hate short hair is because I had it when I was a kid . I told I look like a boy. Now, I been thinking about because I want to change my looks that is one hand . The other hand I love putting it up in Ponytails.

Something like chin-length may be a good idea because it would be a change, but it also wouldn't take too long to grow back if you hated it. Also I doubt that anyone would think you looked like a boy with chin-length hair!
My hair is just below chin length and I can get it easily into a pony-tail, although my hair is wavy rather than curly. I find chin-length to be one of the most versatile lengths I have ever had if you are prepared to experiment with hair clips and things.
If you did decide to go significantly shorter then it is all about the stylist, a good stylist could help you find a style that wouldn't make you look like a boy, there are plenty of short, feminine styles out there, it is just about finding the right stylist for you.

I went to a hairdresser for a consulation about cutting it short. The hairdresser told me with my face shape and naturally curly hair , told me not to cut my hair any shorter than my shoulders because it will not look good on me. I haven't cut it yet am planning on it sometime this month to my shoulders.
Thank you for all of your suggestion.

I've seen really cute curly hair long and short but one way to see if you really want short hair is to list the pro's and cons of both and stlying options. I personally would keep it long but to each his own.

Just keep in mind that it would be easy to end up with an afro, or giant '80s-looking hair like Dirty Dancing :-P . If that's what you're looking for, that's fine, but if you don't like that, be careful.

OMG that reminds me of when i got my hair cut short the first time it was a giant afro think like napolean dynamite hair it was a disaster, i prefer longer layers for my curly hair, or may be shoulder length again must have layers or it just puffs up.
