QuoteReplyTopic: WARNING - SAMPOOK'S 'Russian' hair Posted: August 24 2006 at 8:28pm
Hi everyone!
I thought I would give every hair lover on the board my latest experience buying hair from the ebay seller Sampook. Well lets say I am - FURIOUS! She advertises 4 oz of Russian hair machine wefts in 16 or 20 inches length. She also makes the outrageous claim it is 'virgin Russian remy cuticle unprocessed'! (Unprocessed my a---e!!)
She charges US $249 for it. It worked out well over $300 Australian dollars with the UPS postage. Even so, I thought it seemed rather inexpensive for Russian hair. But since I have always wanted to get my hands on true Russian hair, I thought .... 'what the heck. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt!'
Anyway, I get the hair fairly quickly but am quite shocked at how similar it is, well practically IDENTICAL to Indian hair! The density and wave, the thick diameter of each individual strand, the mild coarse feeling and frizziness ect; (Some on this board call it 'poufness'!) It also has this strange sulfur smell!!! Would that be a perming solution?? Can she rightfully call this 'virgin UNPROCESSED'??? How deceptive is that?!Can someone explain why it would have a sulfur smell that does not go away?? I have washed it at least ten times and the smell remains! I dont even get that smell with the remy Indian I buy.
Well I send her off an email. I do not be nasty in anyway or accuse her of fraud but I do imply that the company she buys her hair from might be supplying her BOGUS HAIR. I explain to her what I was expecting in Russian hair and how it supposed to match the finer caucasian hair ect;
I tell her all about how I even compared and inspected the hair closely (outside in the sunlight) to some Indian hair I had and it was identical in every way. (I usually buy RK hair but I didn't give her that little detail!)
Her responce is that basically she wears this hair herself and 'loves it'. That it definitely IS Russian hair and she doesnt know what I was expecting. (WTF?!?) She then goes on to explain that there are all different grades of Russian hair and adds that I received the premium grade. It is the same company that she has dealt with for the last 10 years. I find it a bit 'suss' that she says she will get on to the supplier and see if it really is Russian hair! Why would she say that when she mentioned before it 'definately IS Russian hair and she wears it herself and loves it....??' I think she is a bit shifty!
Now the hair is getting progressively worse and worse. The sulfur smell does not go away and the hair even 'crackles' when I run my hands through it. I have tried every kind of product from silicon to oils and basically this crap hair is inferior to even RK hair. At least with RK you get value for your money and that it is ok hair.
All those dollars down the drain! GRRRR!!! If you ever come across her ebay store - you have been warned by me. It will be back to RK for me or I will try the Wagnum.
As for Sampook I wonder when karma will come back on her for ripping off and deceiving customers with so-called 'Russian remy exquisite - blah blah blah .... '
(As you can probably notice I am still angry!)

Hey goddess, yes things have been mentioned about this seller on here a few times :s the hair is nowhere near as nice as it looks unfortunately.
Did you pay by paypal? because you can file a claim through them and they pretty much act in favour of the buyer (all they have to do is take the money out of her account and put it into yours). I wouldnt let her get away with it, thats alot of $$ on hair that is pretty sh*t quality.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience, i suppose a good thing to come of this is that we all know not to buy from her. Im hoping you paid by paypal and can at least get some of your money back-i think you have 45 days to file a claim from the date of purchase but dont quote me on that.
How's it going chiki babe?!! Yes I did pay by paypal and thanks for the advice. I think I will try and get the money back since I have not received true Russian hair. In fact I am going over to paypal now! I will let you know how it goes.
Too many people take advantage of other's good, trusting nature .
But I know karma kicks you in the backside when being untruthful .
So those liars and cheaters better watch out
I learn to love and try to understand everyone I meet. I see the rainbow hiding in their eyes.
We also sell hair on ebay- and I have noticed that sampook AKA THE HAIR EXTENSION BOUTIQUE advertizes virgin Russian hair. Just by looking at it I could tell it was probably not Russian and Most defintiely not virigin- becuase she sells so many colors (uniform colors- dyed looking not natural looking) of the hair- and the texture appeared to be even and processed (too uniform as well) from the photo. But I was not 100% positive--- so I did not try to call her on it or anything. I did not want to accuse someone of something if I had no definite proof. I also did not want her or eBay to assume that I was just trying to fry her- being that I am a competitor selling the same-ish sort of products as she.
From your decription of the hair you received- there is no doubt in my mind you DID NOT get Russian Virgin hair.
I am so so sad to hear this has happened to you. It is such a shame. It is so disheartening to know that there are people out there (and too many of them) who are so willing to take advantage of others. 1/2 the reason why I sell on ebay is becuase I like to make people happy with the hair. Sure, I want to make some $- but you can totally totally do that without being a skeez.
I guess there is a micro-slim possibility that her supplier is claiming to sell her virgin and Russian hair and is not. But, c'mon, I would think that she would have to be able to TELL Russian virgin hair from the hair you described. Especially when you deal with so much hair. I don't buy her explaination.
*GO TO PAYPAL* You can file a "item not as represented" complaint. You can also be sure to leave appropriate feedback on ebay- and even contact them about the situation. I really hope you can get some of your $ back.
Again- what a shame. I am vicariously frustrated for you.
Thanks nikki and boho for your empathy! Well I sent off a claim to paypal and I must admit that it looked like I was raving on and on because it was such a looong letter! Almost like a magazine lol! But how else am I going to explain the reasons to paypal and how she has misrepresented the hair completely? They probably wouldn't know the first thing about extension hair so I had to give them a 'lesson'! ;)
I hope they will believe me - SIGH!
I also am under the impression that sampook will read it also.

I'm glad you paid with paypal, BRAVO!! I once ordered a flat iron on
ebay and it came broken!! The seller said no refunds but she did say it
was new and unused!! Not true and I got my money back! Thanks to paypal.
Thanks malibu I have now esclated this to a claim as sampook is defending herself and sticking to her guns. She is trying to make me feel like I am in the wrong and niave and states repeatendly that there are all differnet grades of Russian hair ect; HOW CONVENIENT!!! She supposedly takes pride in her repuation too .... WELLLL ....
Donut, too bad you ordered the hair. I will be sorry for you too if you lose money like me. Did you pay with paypal? If so, you may too file for a claim. Even you had a 'feeling' but went along and ordered giving her the benefit of the doubt.
Well when you get the hair please do give us all your opinion on the hair. Considering you deal in Russian hair all the time who better to compare sampook's hair to? Please tell us if you think it really is true Russian hair!!! I think when you notice the thick strand diameter on each individual strand you will know instantly!
Paypal do ask for evidence so I have given them this forum to do a search on Sampook. Hopefully they will and will see for themselves that she lacks integrity. From selling crap 'European hair' to stealing pics!
Keep your fingers crossed for me and let's band together for 'justice' if we have to!!! DOWN WITH THE HAIR SWINDLERS!!!
Sampook is trouble with a capitol T. If you bought "virgin Russian hair" from her get your money back from Paypal ASAP. She knows damn well what she's selling is not virgin Russian hair. That BS about "grades" of hair is also bullsh**. She's a piece of work, she also stole some pictures off my website!! I had a bit of a run in with her a few years ago, shes's certifiable crazy. Return the hair, and get your money back ASAP. When you ship the hair back to her MAKE SURE she has to sign for the package. Otherwise it might get "lost". The thing I don't like about ebays feed back is everyone who sells on there wants good feed back, so this little you do it for me, I'll do it for you kinda taints honest feedback. Not always of course, but it does happen. But I digress.....she's not an honest person, don't let her get away with it. I LOVE PAYPAL. If you have a problem they will be right there for you, take em up on it and get a refund. Remember don't cut or color the hair...send it back unaltered she will have to comply.
Well the hair i ordered is not described as virgin anyway so im not expecting it to be as its so blond and also deep wave, you can tell its curled as the curls are all going in the same direction, so far at least there is no deception so i am sticking with the order and ill soon know if its russian or not, ill let you know what its like and keep you posted!

I totally recomend you to send back the hair with a tracking number, bec I have had a bad experience with a website called "Texas Beauty Supply ", they said my package was lost, when I wanted a return.
And don't feel too bad, that's a lot of money but we all make mistakes!

Hi donutloose, can you share your contact in russia and how much it cost? I would like to buy some russian hair directly too. I buy from russian hair co. and the quality is superior but the prices bite. Any way to go cheaper? Thank you!
Hey frenchie *ooh la la* that is a super cute avatar! Love that smilie face with it's 'snobby' expression!
Marlena, I guess that true Russian hair is never cheap and this is yet further evidence that this woman is living in some kind of delusion - or is simply out for a quick dollar. Which one do you think?
Mabe she tells herself it IS REAL - over and over - until she actually believes it *rolls the eyes*
NAAAHHH - The quick dollar jumps out at me.
*sees red for the umpteenth time*

Hi there, yes i have bought hair from russianhair.net and its lovely, definately russian and definately virgin! i bought a kilo of the stuff and thats really the only way to get it cheaper! obviously the down side (if there is one!) is the colours are very limited in virgin hair, i also bought 2 kilos from a company called cariba group which was also very nice but the hair from them is RAW so has to be cut and drawn to remove short hairs etc The quality from russianhair.net is very good Im always on the lookout for new suppliers Im waiting on an order from a new co which sells european hair so i can gat more of a colour range so ill let you know what they are like, the search continues for the holy hair grail!
