This is to the admin. Can you please tell me why this topic was moved to the 'wigs and related' topics? This post is about extension hair.
Sherrie,
This topic was not intentially moved from Hair Extensions to Wigs. It is possible that when we updated the board software and realigned the keywords that it was moved accidentally.
It has been moved back but unforunately some of the images got lost because the links broke in the process. We will try and recover them but can't promise that we can recover them.
Our apologies.
That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)

use steam to curl them. use WET hair with curling irons, heavily misted damp hair with velvet rollers. you can also, before installing it, wind it around something round, dip into HOT HOT water. the trick is to let the hair cool in a curled pattern. the hair is basically plastic, so the heat "softens" it, then as it cools, it hardens into that shape.
I curled them tonight. I will let them cool, and see how it looks in the morning. Wow, I couldn't believe it even curled. I am so glad you gals are helping me.

co-signing with misslou. The key to curling wawa is 1: the hair has to be WET to curl with an iron. More than just a mist. 2:You have to slide the curl off the iron without letting the curl unwind and clip it in the curled position until cool. Or use steam rollers. I used velcro rollers and then steamed the rollers with a hand held clothes steamer and then let them cool.
Once you figure out the key to curling it, its easy...and then you dont have to keep curling your hair after washing...the curl will stay in the wawa until you straighten it.
Really, the curl stays through washings??? Also how do you straighten again, if water doesn't straighten, it then I quess you would have to use a straight iron, right???
as far as off-the-head-curling goes: anything round that can take HOT (read: steaming hot, almost boiling) will work. plastic curlers, soda cans, any tube shape.
what I'm wearing: 1 pkg 18" DLux SS #2 and protac

O.K. I will try this. I wonder if the molecular caruso steam rollers would work. I did mist some water on them before the curling iron, but that didn't help. What would I wrap them around? Then do I just let them dry overnight or what??

Finally, you can purchase the WaWa #613 bulk. I have so much left over #27 from the #613/#27 bulk because that WAS the only way to get the #613. Its about time!! I seriously think Im gonna use the WaWa my next install. I really like the idea of being able to curl it and the curl lasts through several washings.
Hi I am new here, but I have a question about your post. I ordered wa wa hair extension wefts from vixenwigs. I can't seem to get them to curl at all. How do you do it. I used a curling iron, but it didn't phase it. The extensions are straigtht, Were your already wavy then you added curl. Please help, because I can't wear them like this.

I just wanted to remind you…. for anyone interested in the
darker colors…the1B and 2 are about the same exact color. My
#2 was the only hair that had a “Yaki” texture. All the other
colors do say Yaki but they are all Silky really. Only my #2 was
a different feel from the rest. The #4 is pretty dark too. It looks
almost as dark as a1B on the Bohyeme color ring.

It's absolutely ingeneous! I was wondering what you used for the ends there - guitar picks. Brilliant! Well you did a heck of a job. It's the best color ring I've ever seen, really.

Great blending SAS. I have several shades of blonde that Ive blended too. But I never thought of doing the staggering, and 'prelayering' like this. When I blend I always try to keep the lengths even as possible. May have to give your technique a try!

Sorry Sherrie.....got side tracked as I was about to post.....
Thanks for posting the pics Sherrie
I was playing around last week with all the WaWa and thought
what the heck I might as well make a color ring. I have been
trying different glues and stuff for pretipping and the WaWa is
so cheap to play around with. I didn't want to use my good remi
hair for mucking around...
Sherrie, I just sit and shuffle that hair like a deck o cards till I
see something I like. BLEND,BLEND,BLEND,BLEND!! 1 part of
that 3 parts of the other….what ever looks good. I blend exactly
the same when blending Prohair.
I blend like crazy first, so that the 22" starts getting kinda
staggered and lengthening as I blend. I don't try and place the
hair precisely back on top of the other with ends matching as I
really want the length to increase to the point were I have
almost 34". Then I cut that bundle in half, giving me 16-17"
which I use for shorter layers. Then the next bundle I stagger
again, then cut in half....usually another color complimentary to
the one I just blended. I keep doing this until I have all the
layering lengths and colors I want. For the longest length 22" is
when you want to be very precise and keep the ends exactly
even on both ends. I like to keep the bottom lengths more full
on the ends so it doesn’t look to wispy on the bottom. I just hold
the bundle dead center and fisted tight. I brush the colors on
one side of my fist…then turning the hair around and blending
the other side. I keep doing this until I have the color I want. If
you fist the hair real tight you won’t lose any length or very little
hair. The final result is a nice layering install with no cutting at
all afterwards. I think it's much easier that way for a DIYer to not
have to worry about putting in layers afterwards.
. You can always feather around the frame of the face but very
minimal cutting/razoring is needed.
Or if you have WaWa wefts...Kristin posted her technique of
cutting off the lengths as she goes giving the same layered
razor look.
I like the 613/27 mixes the most. I could have blended more
colors here but got lazy!!!
