QuoteReplyTopic: Hair Help Posted: September 04 2006 at 5:15pm
I have brown, thick, oily, wavy, poopfy hair. I have hair issues. My routine is at night I wash my hair with Head and Shoulders, then Brilliant Brunette, and then Condition with Sauve for brown hair. Then I let my hair air dry some and then blow dry it. In the morning before school I straighten it. I would love to stop straightening it and leave it wavy but as the day goes by it gets poofy anf frizzy and looks aweful. Any suggestion on if what I am doing is good or things I need to do would be appreciated.

ur using to many products, and some strong chemicals for someone with dry frizzy wavey hair, i suggest you shampoo less ( maybe 3 times a week or so) and use a lot of conditioner get rid of the head and shoulders and brillant brunette and use a shampoo and conditioner for wavy curly type hair, stop straightning it ur just going to make more damage and more frizz. Also be sure to do a leave in conditioner often, and also start using jojoba oil on ur hair that will keep the hair down during hte day so it doesnt puff up. be sure to air dry!

I HAVE to shampoo my hair every day. If I don't it looks like I dipped my head in car oil, litteraly I have had people say that. Also If I don't use head and shoulders my hair gets dandruff SO bad. My head itches and it looks like it snowed on my head. What does jojoba oil do? I want advice but I must use what I listed. Seriously my hair looks so bad without it. You would not believe how oily my hair is.

You should definitly check out Lamasbeauty.com. I think their chinese herbal hair line would work great for you. It deeps cleanses without drying and it will take care of the dandruff problem without the bad chemicals from head and shoulders. Sounds to me like the oil problem is being caused by the products you use. Using head and shoulders and then a second shampoo every day, will overdry your scalp, making over produce oil to try to compensate for the dryness.
So what babycheeks is telling you is true. Too many products and the wrong kind.
Try the lamas stuff, wash only 3 to 4 times a week and use a leave in conditioner such as Sebastian potion 9 or Salerm 21. It will take your hair sometime to adjust and to realize it doesn't need to over produce oil anymore, but it will happen.
If you don't want to go with the Lamasbeauty products, then Neutrogena makes a real good anti-dandruf shampoo wich is really good and gentle. And use a good conditioner (Kill the Suave please).
Good luck

Well, for someone who has hair with no special needs or problems, I guess it would be OK. But for someone with curly, or dry, or frizzie, or hair that has any special needs, it just wont cut it. I mean, is not the worst, but the ingredients are not all that, and it won't do much for hair that needs extra help.
She needs a brand that is going to help her balance out the problems with her hair. Something that will moisturize yet not make her oily problem worse; yet it needs to be rich enough to tame down the poofyness. I would probably try, either Redken Bodyfull or Redken Water rush.
Well, try to find out if there is an Ulta store in your area. If not you can usually find them on ebay. If you can't get Redken, just try to find a similar formulation in another premium brand, like Nexxus or Sebastian, which they now sell at Target and Walmart.
Gee, it's been so long since I've used Nexxus I don't even remember. I would probably go with their humectress shampoo and conditioner. That would probably work well for you.

im agreeing still with what i said your using to many products, i suggest going to the salon have them look at your hair and scalp at Ulta like shary says and let them find one to fit you Nexxus is a good brand I also like Matrix curl life and Biolage. Also if your really short on money i like Aussie products okay, but you do need some jojoba oil if you cant get that maybe you should use a jojoba based shampoo and conditioner i think St, Ives makes one, jojoba will calm that itchy scalp. Also tea tree oil is effective in itchy scalp conditions. wish u luck:)

Actually sounds very good. I wouldn't have taught of the heavy cream for you, as you are complaining about oily problems, and tought it would be a tad heavy for you. Well, let us know if you use them and how they work out for you.
