Ok,like so many others on this site,I colored my light blond hair to a "light reddish brown". I thought because it had RED in it that it wouldnt turn any funky colors and be fine. Well, first it looked WAAy too dark~like, almost black. However, the color faded to a light/medium brown. The problem is,the blond is coming back through! Instead of redhighlights,it looks like I have blonde ones.
So...I called Clairol. They were very nice and told me a 3 step processs to do to fix my problem. But I'am scared to try it and want advice before I proceed.
She told me to buy METALEX and apply it for 30 minutes then wash.
Then she said to wait a full 24 hours before doing anything.
She told me use Nice and easy #108 natural reddish blond~JUST THE COLOR,not the activating creme, and leave it on 20 minutes.
Then, use nice and easy #114A Natural lightest golden brown just1 ounce of color,1 ounce developer, and 1 ounce of shampoo.
she said to strand test every 5 minutes and leave on a max of 20 minutes, then rinse
So,I bought the METALEX,but I dont really know what it is or what it will do.Will it strip my hair of the color already on it? I really dont want a haircolor remover.
And,the light reddish blonde seems to be a VERY bright color...almost orangeish.
I'm also not sure about how to strand test every 5 minutes...wont it be hard to tell what the color is turning when it will wet?
I have a wedding to go to in a week and I really need some advice! I have to do this soon.PLEASE,anyone who knows about METALEX and mixing colors, please help me!!
I really want to trust the lady from clairol, she assured me doing this would make my hair the light brown I was aiming for with the red in it I want (instead of the blond)
They seem to imply its good for everything from removing metals to
helping fix hair that has been bleached, and also doesn't remove much
of the dye. I wonder how all that can be true in one bottle, but
am curious!
To strand test every 5 minutes, do several test strands before you do
your whole head and wash each one off five minutes after the last so
you can see how they came out when they are all dry.
I don't know if anyone can predict how your haircolor will come out,
even if we saw what color it is now. That's why strand testing is
so important...definitely before a wedding!

Well,I ended up not having to use the METALEX. I called clairol back and they said I only had to use it if I had grey or green tones and my hair.(which I didnt, just the annoying blonde coming back through)
So last night proceeded with applying both colors as instructed and now it looks GREAT! The blonde is gone, replaced with beautiful red highlights and a rich brown. I'am very pleased. The METALEX by itself was 18dollars though and I dont think I can return it,LOL. Oh well, guesss I'll just hold on to it and maybe someone else may need it one day.
