I'm a male and I used to have nice hair, it is a medium length and I wear a hat for my job. I am off this week for vacation and I thought I would get my once great hair back. I don't know what happened, but over the past year, my hair got drier and drier with each wash. I have to use a flat heat iron to get my hair just not to look like an big mop. It is thick and gets tangled very easy. As I'm shampooing I can feel that it is elastic and no matter what I try it is dry! I'm been using the emu shampoo and conditioner and it worked great, but now it is sooo dry I don't believe it! I need help, next time I wash it I will take a picture of it while it is wet and then when it is dry and you will see what I have to deal with. When it is dry and in great shape, and I go outside or inside in front of a fan it starts to get wavy and goes crazy! I like my length and don't want it cut, I'm see many people with my length, just not dry like mine.

This is a picture from months ago when it was trimmed in the back. It looked great in the picture (not dry) but it is nothing like that now.

Here is a pictures of my hair wet. Some has already dried, certain parts will dry within 10 minutes. I am either not washing and conditioning my hair correctly or it is just really messed up.

HI! Well,I dont think your hair looks bad. Maybe you would benefit from using a hair serum though. I use BEDHEAD after-party,it feels kinda like a lotion and you just smooth it on hair when it's wet from the shower. It adds shine and makes hair softer and less frizzy. You can buy it from any salon or maybe get it online. This will help since using a flat iron does tend to dry hair out.
Also, maybe try a good reconstructing conditioner like Nexxus reconstructor.

If the products aren't working for you, don't buy them again.

If you wash your hair frequently (like daily, or every other day) you might want to consider diluting your shampoo (1/2 oz of shampoo into 5 oz of water) -- I use an old empty shampoo bottle for mixing the dilution, and use the dripper top to slowly apply it to the scalp.

How is the quality of your water?  If it's hard, you might want to follow-up your shampoo and conditioner with a final rinse of diluted vinegar (1 tbsp) in distilled water (12 oz).

I used the vinegar trick and it has helped very much. It is still dry and all, but not like it was. Is it just going to take time to get rid of the dryness?

If you are still using the heat, that may be the cause of your problem.  Heat is very damaging and drying.

I dont think it looks half as bad as you think it does. maybe try an anti-frizz serum. I like the Biolage one. Its about $12 but you can get something similar and cheaper somewhere else.

Here is the latest picture. What do you think? Some tell me it is too long, but I'm ok with it. Is there any women that do like long hair on males. People tell me it is a no-no, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

It looks better in this picture! I love long hair on a guy myself. When I met my husband his hair was longer then mine and down to his waist.Almost every guy I ever dated had somewhat long hair.
I think it suits you and looks nice.
