Hi, I am growing my hair long and have always had a left side parting like most men do.
While this is ok, I have tried parting my hair in middle to give me different styles but due to the original parting my hair always seem to be 'lopsided' or one-side heavy. My hair is naturally wavy so although blessed, I think this is also cause of my problem, yes?
I see many people switch between side and middle parting and normally have a forehead fringe when middle parted which is what i will probably have done when my hair is long enough.
Do I need 'train' my hair to be middle parted or cut slightly differently to allow the sides to appear equal? In my other post I stated I have just bought straighteners so will this in itself help as well ?
If, when you get your hair trimmed, you have it parted in the middle,
it will be even when you wear it in the middle, then it will still look
fine when parted on the side (as the side that goes over your head will
be expected to look heavier). Your hair will naturally be poofier
when its not used to going in a certain direction, it will lay flatter
if you part it in the middle after you wash and its still wet so dries
when parted in the middle.

Thanks Susan. So will it be best to wear it in a centre parting for a while to try and train it to lay more flat? Is it sensible to wait before having a forward fringe put in as well, that is to say wait til my hair lies more evenly.
Also, when I pull my hair back over my head to make a pony, where my side parting is, is quite visible but is that just a matter of training again?
Thanks again, I see your quite a regular here and have had your own 'funny' hair journey. Least it's looking great again.
If you comb it straight back over the part when you comb it into your ponytail, it should cover it.
the longer it gets the easier it will be to get it to part anywhere
without poofing out because of the weight.
Yes, my hair journey was a learning experience, now I know a few things I'll never do again!
