    Posted: October 29 2006 at 3:38pm
Hi, I thought that I would post my Elite Thermo instalation that I did last Monday.  I used the 5/27/33 blend.  When the hair arrived I had a hard time believing that it really was "plastic" hair, it felt so soft and "REAL".  The weft it's self is very small and thin with no beard.  I washed the hair before I installed it just to see if it would get all "yucky" before I put it in and to make sure that nothing was on the weft preventing it from sticking to the pro-tacks.

Anyways, instalation went very easy.  I did notice that the tapes did not want to stick to the hair it's self and I was worried that after my first washing it would all slip out, but surprisingly it did not.  The tapes are really secure to the weft.  I also found out the hard way that this hair is pretty fine, meaning you have to double up the wefts to get the hair to look natural.  I relized this after I had installed the hair, I did not double up any of the wefts.  I also felt that this color was a little too dark for me, so I took a weft of some indian hair that I have, in a reddish, copper color  and added that at mid head point.  That did the trick for creating fullness, but I still think that the color is just too dark for me.  Anyways, here is a pic of what I ended up with.

So I cut about 4 inches off the length, and it falls just at my bra strap.  I have tried a couple of different ways to curl this hair and I am still trying to figure it out.  At first I sprayed the length and wraped it around my curling iron barrel, well that didn't work work beans!!  I ran out of time so I just tried to curl the ends under and that seemed to work out just fine.  The next day I had a little more time and tried the barrel thing again and that worked better if I got the hair really wet, but it caused the curl to fall quickly.  So the Third day, I added the indian hair and took the Thermo hair and twisted it in small sections and ran my flat iron over the small twist, that worked out great, it looked like I had a really loose perm and the texture matched the Indian hair great.

Well that didn't last too long as the ends started to get really dry and frazzeled looking, so I had to spray those and curl them under, which caused the hair to loose it's "permed" look, but it still looked ok.

So after wearing this hair for a week, I am ready to take it out and put my Indian back in.  It is alot of work to keep it looking good.  What I am finding is once you brush it, it looks beautiful and shinning and soft.  But after a few minutes of normal walking around and just "living", it seems to seperate and get really dry looking and feeling.  I have tried using lots of Velvasil and frizz serum, I have tried using less product, but the results are the same.  Here is a picture of my hair after I have brushed it and then walked around my house and put groceries away.  I came back, didn't touch it and then took a picture.

So I am feeling pretty self consious when ever I go anywhere, and I am always smoothing down the back of my hair.  Here is a side view, as you can see you can see where my hair ends and the extensions start.
So, its been a short run, but I am ready to go back to human hair.  For me it just seems to be less fuss.

How would you say the hair was in terms of shininess compared to your own and compared to Boyhme or Wagman?

I found that at first it was way shinner than my natural hair.  But my natural hair is kinda frizzy and fried on the ends, so it seemed like there was quite a bit of contrast.  After I shampoed it a couple of times it seemed to be less shiny, but it still does have shine.  The overall feel of the hair is good, but the ends do tend to get very dry feeling, that is where it is right now.  I am going to take it out tommorrow and put some more Wagman in.  I have found the Indian hair to match my texture better, and it seems to just get softer over time.

I think that for clip in's it would work out good.  I would probably wash it a couple of times if you think that it is too shiny for your hair texture.

What a shame! I was so ready to try some synthetic hair after reading so many good things. Now I'm really not so sure anymore... .
Thanks for your pictures and everything, Gsmilie!

The thermofiber or wawa is so cheap....you really should try it.
I agree with GSmilie....it is alot of work to get this hair curled....but I have my elite thermo mixed with some jetset human hair.....don't  like the fried ends after several curlings....... but with this hair being mixed, may be why I'm having better luck.... I've gotten my to hold curl better the last two weeks....now I have some Wawa coming so I can try that....I got a month so far out of this hair....I am going to give it another week or two and then switch to the wawa.
Thanks,
JeepGirl

Current install-Bohyme Bodywave #30 and #14 in the straight hair/ they didn't have the #14 in bodywave, so I mixed them...works great!

I had a very similar experience with the elite thermo, and my natural hair is pretty similar to yours....although it's a little shorter. I didn't keep it in as long, just a couple days, but it just never seemed to blend right. I think it'd be great at just adding thickness if you already had the ideal length, though. The upkeep is too much for me, too.

Daaaaang! Here's mine after almost a month. This is the install I did at the beginning of October with the extended strands. Still rockin' it! And a biggie close up of the bottom which shows the texture at this point.

Gorgeous Amm! You must be doing something right, lol. I think the color match is great on you...I guess I just needed something more "ashy." It might have blended better.

Wow that looks great AMM, what are you doing with it???   I thought that I tried everything, but I couldnt get it to match the texture of my natural hair, and it seemed to get "piecey" on me.

Obviously its the way we are treating the hair with the curling irons and such.....
Amm......Exactly ....step by step  what do you do to that hair and it still looks good on the ends?
I like the hair otherwise.....I just can't figure out what I'm doing that causes it to fry the ends and make it itchy to the skin.....maybe my curling iron is too hot......I'm wetting the hair 1st.  Do you spray anything on you thermo..other than water.....before you curl? What size iron are you using? What brand is it....cause if it can keep your thermo in such good shape....I can only imagine that its better for ones own natural hair....whats the brand chic? LOL
Hey I'm willing to buy a new flat iron or curling iron if it means I can stop frying the ends and such.....cause the hair is cheap enough and I like new hair every month anyway......so if I can get 4-5 weeks of good wear....I'll keep ordering this hair.
Heyyyyyy....... Maybe you (Amm ) can make a DVD or how you curl and style this hair and sell it on your site.....with the hair.....just a thought.
I mean you and Sherrie are the hair goddesses oh and Kristen...and....well the list is too long to go through...but some of you gals could put these together cheap enough...don't you think....or better yet......flim it and put it on "my tube" like that girl did.....you know the funny chic putting in extentions....god that was funny....but you gals would be great in it.
Thanks,
JeepGirl
