My hair has begun to shed and I never experienced that before(at least I wasn't into my hair care then).I have brought alot of new products and I think it might be one. My hair dresser(my cousin) said I might need a good reconstructor. Could my hair be getting to much protein?
Yes you can put so much protein into your hair that it will snap. Remember protein make your hair stronger/hard so you should apply a protein reconstructor once a month and shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo and moisturizing conditioner every 4 days.
I am experiencing a lot of shedding also. But I have only been
doing this healthy hair thing since Feb 2005, so I am not familiar with
or not educated enough to know how to tell whether it is seasonal or
not.
I am also 11 weeks-post relaxer, so it could be demarcation issues also.
Load up on the moisture.
Baggying seems to be helping me also.
Heard garlic shampoos curb shedding...anyone recommend a good one?
My hair has been shedding off and on since I had my baby (winter and summer). She is now 19 months and my hair still shedding. I'm taking birth controls and still experiencing a lot of shedding. With my shedding you can see the white bulbs on the end so I think it's my harmones. I don't know--if this keeps up I'm just going to a dermatolgist.

Newbie here and had the same thing. Got some alter ego cren- green box with yellow writing-from sickbay. Use it once a week. Put the drops on the scalp (no rinse) and my hair stopped coming out. This stuff is a miracle. Hope it helps.

It could be lots of reasons for your shedding. You are right your hormones could be playing a part. Your diet and certain medications could be playing a part. The best thing to do for your hair is to keep your ends trimmed. Also keep your hair moisturized. When my hair was getting out of control with shedding and breaking I went back to my hairstylist and got my hair cut. So now I'm rocking a short do. I'm letting grow out now, but I make sure I go to a professional for my relaxers and not do them myself. I hope this helps.
Love your imperfections they are what makes you unique.

There is a product called "ApHOGEE", treatment for damaged hair and balancing moisturizer. The treatment and the moisturizer comes in seperate bottles, you should purchase both of them. This product will IMMEDIATELY stop your shedding for a few weeks. The treatment stinks really bad, and it kinda hardens on your hair, than you rinse it out, and apply the moisturizer. Don't worry your hair won't stink when your finish, and you can still use your other shampoo and conditioner after the treatement.
It really works, and think you can find it at your beauty supply store.

Cren is an excellent product, I agree it is a miracle. Shedding is an internal process, and it can be curbed by using the correct products. Shed hairs are essential hairs that has reached the end of their growth life.
Howdy! To second what everyone said, moisture is key, trims to get rid of/prevent split ends are necessary & protein is vital, but don't overdo it! I'd like to recommend Ion Reconstructor and Effective Care Treatments. They will give you the protein you need! I used the reconstructor once a month, at least 15 min under a dryer followed by a moisturizing conditioner. This is equivalent to Aphogee which I've also used it doesn't smell bad & won't make your hair as hard. I used the eff. care every other week - warmed in the microwave then put a plastic cap on for at least 15 min. Both did very well for my hair. During the colder months, extra moisture is necessary. Protective styles will also help. Try a pre-poo too (overnight if possible) - maybe an EVOO mix with a moisturizing conditioner, paying special attention to the ends. I know it's frustrating, but a good diet, good products and good old fashion LOVE will do the job! God bless & listen to these ladies - they know what they're talking about =) They've definitely helped me!!
HHC began 08/05, BC 11/05. Healthy & nearly BSL 02/07!

Birth control has negative side effects, and thats probably why ur hair is continuing to shed. See ur GYN and seeif the Derm. will prescribe something for ur hair

I got in this hair forum, and I felt like God sent me to let ALL OF YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT THIS MERICLE PRODUCT!!!!! A while back, my sister brought this product called Horizons home. It was a Christmas present to all of the women in my family. ( 5 of us) She wrapped up a bottle of their vitamins, and this oil called emu oil. Reluctant as we usual are in our family to try new things we did anyway...and three months later were still on this amazing product and trying to get all sisters and brothers to give it a try and begin to see all the amazing results we all did. We are African's and have that strong, course hair, but somehow it would never seem to grow and sometimes would get brittle and break off. The vitamins work from the INSIDE OUT to giving the body with all the vitamins and minerals the body needs to start on the road of healthy strong wild growing hair!!!!..and the oil?!?!..Oh My Goodness, its God sent!!! You put it on your hair, as often as you like, and within weeks, you see the new growth sprouting out of your head!!!!..I had an inch of new growth in about 2 weeks...my older sister saw amazing changes and growth in a WEEK!!!..and my younger sister had to start wearing it natural because since sees been using it, her hair is growing out so fast she had to get it re braided twice because the new growth was soooo much...I thank God every night for this product..I've been on the website thousands of times, and each time, I almost get brought to tears. The information is so clear, and easy to understand, and sooo many people seem to have been helped soo much by it...people from all over, and every race!!!. I even read about some men that were losing their hair and though the only solution would be a hair transplant!!! they were using their most potent, product they carry..the Enzy Block...and in less than a month their hair has grown back completely!!! and to think they almost went and spend 5 thousand on hair transplant procedures!!!!...I'm tell you ladies!!!! and all of you guys can come back on here and thank me once you see how amazing this stuff is...It's all natural and not only helps with your hair, but your skin and nails...If there was a fire at my house right now, I could bet you one of the few things I would grab would include my emu oil and my Vitiams..haha...shhh don't tell anyone though..I just know the summer is coming around, and instead of getting some kind of weave done, or some other hair style to mask my hair that wasn't growing, and breaking and thining everywhere. I know by the summer I'll have another 5 or 6 inches of my real strong, health grown hair...Women everywhere how how priceless something like that is....don't we??..I'm so caught up in trying to let ya know...I almost forgot the site!!! WWW.HORIZONSHAIRCARE.COM !!!! EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS...AFTER WHAT THIS HAS DONE FOR ME. I WOULD BE A HORRIBLE PERSON IF I DIDN'T HELP OTHERS
