Washed hair with Motions CPR Shampoo (once)
Deep Conditioned with CPR Conditioner (45minutes)
Applied CPR anti-break lotion to damp hair
Applied Motions Foam & Roller Set my hair
Once dry, applied more anti-break lotion to hair, seal with Wild Growth hair oil
Wrap
I am still experiencing breakage at the back of my hair....and shedding....what to do???
Is the breakage stress related? If so you will need to moisturize that area 2x a day with vitamin e oil or castor oil and massage each time for 5-10 mins.
Have you tried doing a strong protein treatment such as Lamaur's bone Marrow or Jherri Redding's 100% natural protein conditioner (add 3 to 4 tbls to your deep conditioner) ? Make sure that you follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.
If that doesn't work then you need to moisturize with a water-based moisterizer and seal with an oil at least once a day.
Check your products for protein content and make sure that you are not using protein daily.
Also try using garlic shampoo as well.

Congratulations on starting you hair care journey. I use Motions products as well. Its my main line a products! I see a possible problem with your regimen... most of your products contain protein (the Motions CPR Shampoo, the CPR Conditioner and the CPR anti-break lotion). Which is a little to much protein to use every week. Maybe on occassion, but not every week. Your hair needs a balance of both protein and moisture and when you give your hair too much of either... you will experience hair breakage.
Sidenote: Motions CPR conditioner should only be left on the hair for 5 mins!!! you can strech it too 20 mins but anything more than that is too much, especially if done weekly.
Also products that contain Alcohol can be drying, it depends on the person..but most of time it does dry out the hair to a certain degree. Motions foam contains alcohol (a drying agent) and that could also be a another source of your problem.
My Regimen
I use Motions CPR when needed (maybe once every 2-3 weeks since it is considered a mild protein treatment). Every other time I deep condition, I using "Motions Moisture Plus Conditioner" (moisturizing conditioner). I use this twice a week for 30 mins & CPR once only every 2-3 weeks.

Key words/indicators that products have protein are: silk protein, keratin protein (or just karatin) and wheat germ protien (?). Other clues are words like "strenthing" "anti-breakage" "rebuilder" or "restructor" on the front of product.

Thanks so much HairAddict!! I am having a similar problem. This week I have really been impatient with my crazy hair !! This is the regimen I have been following:
Shampoo-Sunsilk
Conditioner-Aussie Reconstructor
Deep Cond.-Capilo Milk & Honey
Leave-in Cond.-Lacio Lacio or Salerm
I do this evey Sunday. I also Surge 2x's a day and WGO 3x's a week. For some reason this week has not been good. Although I just washed my hair Sunday today it has HUGE flakes and is shedding. I have to wash it again tonight. If anybody can give me some info. it will great be appreciated.
I agree with some of the ladies in regards to protein over-load. You
may want to focus on more moisture-based products and water-based
products, to off-set the protein that you have been using.
I notice that you are using Motions product line exclusively.
While this is fine, if you are always experiencing breakage in the back
of your head, then it is time to reevaluate your products, and simply
add some supplemental products, to help curb the breakage.
Before we even discuss the products, do you wear your hair in a
ponytail, bun, or stressed style that may be causing breakage in the
back of your head? Maybe you are tying your nightly scarf in the same
spot too tightly? Sometimes, it is not even the products that
cause breakage. So if either of these sound familiar, make some
experimental changes.
On another note, whenever I do a protein treatment, I always add a bit
of Nexxus Humectress on top, in order to keep the protein/moisture
balance in check.
Another great way to add more moisture are pre-wash treatments, on dry
hair, such as a hot oil: olive, avocado, jojoba, coconut oil on dry
hair for about 30 mins to an hour. Or a warm conditioner on dry hair
for about 30 mins. By doing this, you are hydrating the hair
shaft. While protein is important, OUR hair craves moisture even
more.
Also, moisturize twice a day. S-curl is a great water-based
moisturizer. You do not have to soak your hair in it to see the
results. It works great on ends and on new growth. Other
great ones are mango butter and NTM Triple Moisture, as daily
moisturizers. If you do not like any of these, research more
moisture-based products.
Also, when you are trying to 'seal' in your moisture, try using a
natural oil to do so, rather than a bottled hair product. Again,
jojoba, coconut, and even WGO can be a great sealant. By using
natural oils, instead of a bottled Motions product, you know exactly
what is being placed on your hair, and you are preventing the
application of protein layer over layer over layer, with every product.

I wear a ponytail sometimes, but not too tightly. I wear my hair out also. When i wear my scarf i tie it to the front of my head not the back.
Can you use s-curl on chemically relaxed hair?
For example,
If i use the s-curl on my ends to moisturize it then i would have to use wild growth hair oil to seal the moisture in....do i have this correct???
Nexxus Hemectress--> that is a conditioner or a deep conditioner???
Pre washes...so would i do a hot oil treatment before i do a protein treatment...correct??

Well you dont have to eliminate the Motions Foam, its just something to be aware of if dryness persist and you cant figure out why. Just use it in moderation and you'll be fine. Most wrapping lotions/foams & setting lotions will have alcohol as an ingrediant.
I also use S-Curl, (I use castor oil for as my sealant). You can use it S-Curl on relaxed hair but if you are wearing a wrap it may weigh your hair down some. A little goes a long way "is our model for S-Curl"

Your regimen sounds really put together! You sound like you have a really good balance, you typically need more moisture than protein and thats what yours has. I'm assuming that the Aussie Reconstuctor has protein. It could be that one of the products just isnt agreeing with your hair that is causing the shedding. Our hair also has 3 different cycles that it goes through and could be going through its normal Telogen/shedding phase. It could be a number of things. Just give it time and start watching how you hair reacts to each different product.
Some of the other ladies maybe able to offer more advice...

Thanks for the compliment. Because to tell you the truth I really did not know what I was doing when I put my regimen together. I just did it. So it makes me feel better knowing that I might be going in the right direction with my hair. You know I looked at my Aussie Reconstructor and it said it "replenishes moisture" so it is not a protein. Do you think that might be the problem? What product do you reccomend as a good protein? My hair seems to respond better to Dominican products but I don't limit myself to just those products. I appreciate your input. You have already taught me so much.

Yep, you can use S-Curl on relaxed hair. I was just as surprised
when I found that out, but now I am in love with it because it is a
great daily moisturizer. Yep, you can use Wild Growth Oil to seal it
in...I have been using that combo lately.
Nexxus Humectress is considered a conditioner, and many of us use it as
a deep conditioner. It is one of the higher-quality prods and the
only other condish that gets as much praise, if not more, is KeraCare
Humecto. Deep conditioning is moreso the process, as opposed to a
product. Keeping the condish in for 15 mins, 30 mins, or more is
a deep-conditioning treatment.
Pre-washes are on dry hair and it can be a hot oil or it can be a
conditioner or some other type of treatment that you choose. In
the past, I have done hot olive oil, hot castor oil, avocado, coconut
oil, coconut milk, and warm conditioners. These days, olive oil
is my favorite pre-wash. It works great on my new growth.
This is the link to Sistaslicks post on balancing protein & moisture... it is also a very good list of products for each (mild, moderate or heavy treatments). Its the same one LadyEsquire was talking about.
BTW Surge (while it does work for growth) is super super heavy with the protein and a lot of people have found that it really dries out their hair. . . Some folks have mixed it with castor oil ( thickens hair) or other oils like rosemary oil to counteract it's drying properties.
Also lacio lacio & salerm 21 both have: alcohol as a major ingredient (super drying agent) and panthenol ( which is a silk protein) .
So you've layered -- aussie (protein) with lacio/salerm (protein + alchol) & surge (xtra protein) on top of each other. . .
So you are double drying out your hair most likely. Try a deep conditioner like the cholestrol deep conditioners, or ors olive oil replenshing pak, or nutrogena triple moisture or avalon organics moisturizing conditioner.
Or you could even try adding some EVOO honey & glycerin as mix ins to your current deep conditioners. . .

Thanks sooooooo much for your response. It makes sense now. My hair was extra dry and I could not figure out why. I have since changed my regimen.
Pre-poo- Los Caballos, Shampoo-Sunsilk, Cond.-Capilo, Cond.-ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer, Leave-in-Salerm. I do this every week. I use Sunsilk 24/7 de-frizz and I have been using EVOO spray as needed. I think I will cut down on the Surge to 2x's a week. WGO is too heavy for my entire hair so I just use it on my trouble spots. How does this sounds??? I'll take all the help I can get

I use to use motions foam when I was relaxed. Although, it helps with keeping your hairstyle, it is drying and can harden the hair. Because of this, when the hair is bent (rolled) it can cause breakage...do you put the foam more on the back of your hair.
I would say to use the foam lightly or find another alternative...also the ladies have mentioned great advice.
I noticed my hair was weak and prone to breakage whenever I used a strong anionic surfactant i.e. sodium/ammonium laureth/lauryl sulfate in a shampoo. Sodium myreth sulfate was a little less stripping and decyl polyglucoside was the best.
Someone mentioned not using alcohol-laden styling products and vicious styling techniques. I think that's bright.
