Hey I posted this on the Men's hair board yesterday, but it doesn't seem to get many views or input from anybody. Anyways I decided to post it over here to see what you guys think.

I have had long hair for about two years now, and its pretty much been the same style for that span of time. It's getting to the time where I normally cut it again, but I think It's about time to do something different and maybe short.

I like my hair being low maintanence, right now I just wash it and towel dry it and I'm ready to go. My hair is thin and really straight, and that's the problem. If I got it cut to like medium length or short and spikey I'd have to mess with products everyday to make it look good. That's something I don't want to do.

So that lead me to the idea of going super short. It's really drastic because my hair is so long, but I was thinking of buzzing it or maybe shaving it completly. I don't know if I can pull off the shaved look though, and if I did it and it didn't look good It would be a lonnng time to grow it back. It's not that I'm unhappy with the look of my long hair, It's just that I wanna try something new and it would be even easier being buzzed or bald. I dunno, it's also winter here in NJ and it gets kinda cold so it's a tough decision! Help me out!

I prefer long hair on men. My fiancee is a lawyer who has long hair past his shoulders and sometimes wears it in a bun or ponytail at work.

I saw your pic. You have nice long hair, but get it out of your face! You look like a kid, kid! lol! You know grow it a little longer and get a nice haircut, style it a little. At least brush it off your face, will ya!

Many women like long hair on guys but only if it is clean, and brushed nicely.

Otherwise you might as well get a short hairstyle.

Do what you like though. It is your hair. Just because I like long hair on guys doesn't mean you have to wear it that way! lol!

Hey thanks for the input!

I generally do part it, cause it naturally goes to one side; so its not normally that much in my face!LOL But I do generally wear it in a kinda messy style...

I don't really want it any longer, I've had it almost to my shoulders and it wasn't my thing. I don't really like pony tails or my hair brushed back so that's why I was asking about a change in length. I'm actually 20 believe it or not, I look verrry young so I kinda thought the buzzed or shaved look might make me look older. What do you/everyone else think?

Your hair is like mine.  You really have to be either long or very short like you said.  I think you would look great with a very short cut.  You can still use a tiny bit of product and get a great result.  My son has hair sort of like yours.  He went from almost shoulder length (which wasn't good) to a mohawk, then a buzz cut.  They both looked great.  He is back to just a regular boy cut now (longish layers on top, short back and sides) and still looks great.  He says he wants the mohawk back and he is waiting until he gets the right length to cut it like that again.

I must admit i went short as i was getting the classic male pattern baldness, and although there are day i would love to have a full head of hair i'm glad i went short.  It's very low maintence and is also very cool at the moment. Much better than trying to comb thinning hair over to hide the fact it's thinning.  Unfortunately i could not see your picture so i don't know how thin your hair is. If it is only just going thin then keep it longer for a while until you know it has to go. As once you go short it is very unlikely you will grow it long again.

Finally be happy with how it looks and do it because you want to.

Hey, thanks for the input everyone that replied. When I said thin, I didn't mean like balding thin. My hair is just like light and thin in its nature.

I got my haircut, not buzzed but I did get it a good deal shorter and out of my face. Here it is:

What do you think? I'm thinking about going shorter next time, and then maybe buzzing it in the summer. Your opinions are appreciated, thanks!

Sorry my bad I never checked the link to see if it worked. Here it is:

I'm probably gonna get it cut in the next 2-3 weeks, depending on how I feel about it haha. It's growing out really fast, so Im less hesitant about making changes cause I know I can always go back to this length relatively quick.
