QuoteReplyTopic: weft or single installation? Posted: January 27 2007 at 11:08am
I did a few short term (no longer than 2 week) installations using latex and full wefts. It was simple to put in, looked great, but was HORRIBLE to remove and also felt like my head was constantly covered in bobby pins and my boyfriend refused to play with my hair because he could feel the tracks.
Now I'm thinking about doing either fusion or shrinkies, something with single strands. I need a few tips to figure out what might work best for me; 1) my hair is really healthy and I'd like to keep it that way and avoid breakage or major damage 2) I like to do enough for added thickness (would i need a TON of pretips for that?... and approximately how much?)
Any other tips would definately be great also!
PS... where are the best places to shop online? I've been browsing DoctoredLocks and Sherrie's site for a few weeks now and I have to admit it can get overwhelming trying to figure out whats best while not busting my bank.

Go with Sherrie or Amm and be careful at DoctoredLocks, their quality isn't so great. I still think if he's going to be running his hands through your hair to your scalp he'll notice them weft, shrinkies or microlinks. I'll let some of the experts answer the other questions. I personally let a guy touch my hair but not run his fingers through it especially to the root. Before extensions I had a boyfriend do that & ended up with with thinning hair & this short spot at the back of my head.
If you're looking for short term wear, bonding tapes might be something that will work for you. There's a variety of them out there and their hold can be a few days on up to several weeks.
Shrinkies are an option for an install that stays in longer but more tools will need to be purchased for an installation and each strand that goes in requires some clean up with a remover when it's removed.
If your hair is healthy and you're just wanting to have fun with some volume and added length, clip-ins may work the best. You can take them out anytime and your boyfriend can play away.
