Confused Hello everyone. I just wanted to ask a quick question. What do you ladies think lasts longer, synthetic or human? I have straight hair and its a pretty natural texture, and I was wondering if synthetic lasted longer than human. Thanks ladies!

really, it depends on the quality.  Do a search and you'll find Plastikhaar lasting a while, as well as Elite thermo.  But then *good* human will last ages but will have an initial hit to the wallet that's scary.

If you've ever worn extensions before, I'd recommend Elite thermo or PH.  Your first install is strange and you will probably do something to mess up the hair or install before the 3 month mark, so paying $300+ on your 1st install is probably not the way to go.

If you've worn extensions before, and know how to take care of them, then I'd say go for some high-end human that'll last you a year or more.
what I'm wearing: 1 pkg 18" DLux SS #2 and protac

I consider synthetic hair to be disposable, wear it once and toss it since it usually gets  frizzy after a few months.

I've had European hair last 3 years, but it's expensive.  With my last batch of Bohyme, it's going on 1.5 years and still looks great.  It's the French Refined texture.

Hi Brenda!

In some cases synthetic has lasted longer than human hair (hh). I've tested some hh that gives out in less than four washes and becomes a bunched up mess. I've even had some hh that never made it to the first wash when the coating on the strands burned off with curling iron use and turned into a broom on my head. And, I have some hh that I've used over and over and it keeps up so well, I save it for future use.

Synth costs a fraction of what hh does so it's not so painful if/when it doesn't work out. I've had some $20 installs of synth last much longer than $80+ installs of hh. And, like most everyone here, what has worked for me hasn't worked for others and vice versa. Sometimes one may never know how a hair (or fiber for that matter) will work for them unless they try it.

I think a lot has to due with what you do to the hair.  Amm's a hair goddess with tons of experience.  I have little doubt that she could glean avery last minute from her hair, be it synth or hh.  I kill hair faster than I kill houseplants.  I'm hoping that a visit from fina will show me what I've been doing wrong.

My advice still stands:
first install ever = elite thermo
experienced installer = good HH

LOL! I don't know. I've killed some bales of hair in my day, let me tell you.

I had a batch I tested not too long ago. It was 22" at install and it wasn't in a week. It would shorten up to 18" as it rode up my back like this living thing. Just BREATHING caused this hair to churn and twist. One of my best friends saw it doing this slow crawl up my back one day and was all, "WTF is that on your head?!" It may have been human hair when I got it but I turned that thing into a squirrel's @ss when I wore it.

Miss Lou,  OMG you made me laugh, do you have any idea how much I butchered my first batch of jetset.  My hair cutting skills resembled that of a really bad hair stylist.  Envision a blind Edward Scissorhands.  It is very true, it all depends on how you style, maintenance & length.  I bleached the jetset and it exactly matched my own hair..frizzy, white, broken, dry...ick!  I'm just too lazy for human....I admit it.

OMG a squirrels @ass LOL

I know exactly what you mean amm, that Dena Cali hair I had in a couple of weeks ago did just that. I had washed it, dried it, brushed it out and it was silky and gorgeous. I was just sitting on the couch watching TV and my husband said he could actually see it turning into a brillo pad right before his eyes.

Im very glad to say that I received my Elite Thermo from amm Friday and I installed with tape and it is doing wonderfully. Im sold on this. I dont know that I will ever go back to HH hair. Its just such a crap shoot, even when buying the same brand. One batch is good the next one may be garbage.

Thanks amm!

Em
