After 6 years of being introduced to home hair coloring, I give up on trying to change my hair color at home. My natural hair color is black, the darkest of all black. It is also very curly. These two qualities make hair coloring at home a failure. It is so hard for me to lift the hair color. Its easy to get orange or red but next to impossible to get it a nice cool brown. Since the hair is curly, the color that i did achieved are only seen in direct sunlight.
It is so frustrating, i tried bleaching, but it takes me a good 4 minutes plus application time to before my hair starts to bleach, this is with one the strongest bleaches out there, Wella Blondoe/blondor or what ever the spelling is. I am not sure what the vol of bleach but I do know i have to used a 12 % peroxide. anything less will only turn my hair dark reddish brown.
I even tried to leave it for a total 2 1/2 hours and my hair turned into orange only. Even as I typed, i am having a bad hairday. The so called ammonia free Revlon Deep Burgundy made my hair well, black with a touch of purple under direct sunlight. ARggh.
Even when I tried to colored it again with a ash brown kit, it still reddish.
That is it, I am quiting this coloring nonsense. the only time I will color is when I need to cover my gray hair patches with black hair dye. Black hair color is foolproof with my black hair. Cant mess it up with this shade. I dyed my moms grey hair hair succesfully with great result using Wella Decore series.
Home colouring does not safe my cash after all. With all the correction I did, I might as well got it done at a salon.
Somebody please shoot me if I ever touch a box of hair color other than black
