Hello everyone!  I need a solution for my dry itchy scalp.  I recently stopped using hair grease on my scalp.  I have been moisturizing it twice a day with keracare jojoba oil moisturizer and sealing it with keracare essential oils, morning and night consistently.  I did a co wash yesterday with keracare's humecto conditioner mixed with evoo, coconut oil and honey.  I washed that out an applied some dove moisturizing spray, jojoba oil moisturizer and the essential oils.  I let that air dry and when I woke up to do my hair this morning my scalp is really dry and itchy.  To the point where I can scratch it and get flakes.  I wanted to try the no grease on my scalp thing, but what's a girl to do.  Any suggestions.

I have been avoiding heat, by letting it air dry, but my ends are just frizzy.  If I leave it loose and air dry they are frizzy and when i do a roller set with some diluted lotta body setting lotion it is still frizzy.  The only way I can get the ends straight is by flat ironing them, but I'm trying to avoid that heat.  Any suggestions?

Try a sensitive anti-dandruff shampoo..make sure it says sensitive because many dandruff shampoos are very harsh. Apply evoo to your hair overnight with just a little bit of Garnier Fructis Deep Conditioning serum and then wash it out with a hydrating shampoo like Mane n Tail. This works for me when my strands are in need of some good moisture!

Hey Kimanve, I think what might be giving you an itchy scalp is using the keracare as a conwash...I believe it has cones it which coat the hair and your adding oil to it so (this has happened to me) basically if the scalp is not 100% clean the cones + oil are going to coat the dandruff---you may notice that the scalp is white. When this dries the scalp itches and flakes. I would suggest using a cone free conditioner like VO5 Champagne kisses/Moisture milks,White Rain or Back to Basics Pomegranete. I don't think anybody's hair dries straight but Pocohantas has a tutorial about airdrying with a rollerset---so maybe you can put the hair in a loose ponytail and roller set the ends? HTH

Hi,

I think you might be using too many products on your scalp at once. Also, I went 2 years without using grease and now I have to use it or I will get the flakes and stuff. It might be the weather, depending on where you live.   I would try using less products on the scalp first.

Also, If you ends are frizzy when you air dry, try putting some hair lotion/moisturizer on your ends while it is damp then let it air dry.

How do I know when the conditioner has cones in it, because I looked at the ingredients for the keracare and nothing said cones, unless it is in a different name.  What should I be looking for to find out if it has cones.

Thanks

Hey kimanve...a cone ingredient will end in xane, ine, or cone. For example dimethicone, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethylamine. HTH [:-)]

you might need a thicker oil. try castor instead of jojoba oil and refrain from adding any conditioners or products to your scalp
