QuoteReplyTopic: UGLY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted: February 08 2007 at 8:52pm
Ok so my hair is really weird. It tends to be frizzy and I also have those short hairs around the sides of my head stick up all the time. When I wear my hair pulle dback it looks REALLY bad. There are always bumps in my hair and hair is always sticking out. Does anyone know of any gels or ANYTHING that can help with this. I would like to wear my hair in a nice neat pulled back style for once without looking like a hobo! If this helps about half of my hair is natural and the other is realxed (im growing it out). Im also a teen so I cant shop online so could you guys please list products that I can buy at stores like Sallys etc. Thanks everyone for the help you guys are amazing!
Try spritzing your edges and nape with a bit of water before you pull your hair back, apply a bit of gel to your edges and nape, then brush the hair back with a soft bristle brush (baby brush, toothbrush etc..) then tie a silk or satin scarf around your hair and leave it on for 15+mins. As far as gels, I'd recommend FOTE Vitamin E Gel and Long Aid Curl Activator Gel, both are moisturizing and alcohol free. I've been transitioning close to 19 months now, and this works for me!
Hey lorlor, are you aidrying your hair or flat ironing it? If you are airdrying I would go with sweet ambrosia's scarf method a great gel you can find practically everywhere is Fantasia Sparkelites gel (Walgreens, CVS). Using the scarf will keep the hairs up front smooth and you can wet the ponytail at night apply a creamy leave in (Neutrogena silk touch) and seal it with an oil (Wild growth oil--Sally's) then twist the ponytail. That way you can wear the pony tail curly the next day or easily put it in a bun HTH
jam is less damaging then gel, but it still has a bad effect on hair so i dont recommend using it.
Lets Jam is a gel---- a shining and conditioning gel
What do you mean when you say "bad effect" Ive been using it for about 13 years now and never had a problem with it. The only thing I'd say is that if you are using it on a daily basis, you may need to clarify more often than usual because it tends to be oily. Otherwise, I dont see it as bad for the hair.
