IMO its a great example of how women who are flattered by short hair are tough to define until they try it. I would have expected her to be stunning with short hair, but it doesn't work very well. Meanwhile Hannah Spearritt http://celebrityhair.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=4 is a girl who I thought wouldn't have looked sexy with a pixie but she totally, totally works the style.
Just not flattering on Elisha. IMO she's one of those girls who struggles between sexy and plain. She's got some incredibly sexy features, but not really beautiful. Others are the opposite, lots of classic beauty but they can't quite turn the corner to be sexpots.

The length is cute, but it's too tame. With hair that short you need to mess it up a bit, have it stick out.
Also, the colour is a little dull and strawlike. The shorter your hair, the more vibrant it needs to be since there's less of it to form a continuous texture. For instance, very long, curly, brown hair or natural red hair can look very pretty. But very short brown hair looks horrible and dull, very washed out looking.
A more vibrant blonde, a real "just bleached" kind of colour would look great, kind of punky especially if she has darker roots she can grow a bit, or maybe if she did it completely pure white. She'd very much suit an unnatural colour like pink or pinkish purple, but that's not "cool" in this conservative world :/

In your opinion. Plenty of people can look nice with short dark hair imo.

I never said they couldn't. I love short, jet black hair, but brown just looks dull to me. I'm also talking about greyish, natural brown, not obviously dyed shades which tend to be richer(but still better on long hair, since brown is still brown).
Yeah Rosalie, Hallie Berry looked so washed out with her short
hair....just horrible...NOT. Many women have short, brown hair that
looks terrific.
Her hair was a very rich dark "metallic" looking brown, and also in contrast to a different skin colour(obviously). Her hair looks more black with red highlights than brown -
The cut itself is nice, but the length just makes the colour very dull.
I couldn't find a better example than that though. The problem is online you tend to find pictures of GOOD haircuts, etc. I can't find any that match the "Mousey pixie" phenomenon I've seen so much of especially with older women in real life.
This just proves my point, richer, more vibrant colours(I consider jet black to be very "rich" since it can't possibly look washed out).
Though I think her short do is over-rated. She should have done her "X-men" hair for real, or at least light blonde.

Thing is, if she did her X-Men hair in real life, she would be left with horrific damage. Some people worry about what they put in hair. Natural hair can look just as attractive(and sometimes more than) as dyed, artificial hair.
