When making your own "I -tip" extensions using hair from a weft, approx. how much hair are you supposed to put in each one? Does it matter? i was thinking of using shrinkies...,,and one more question, when you melt the shrinkie to the hair does it also melt the tipped part? So is the hair not reusable? Thank you

My advice for pretipping is to always have on hand the attachments you'll be using BEFORE making your pretips.

For example, if you're using small microrings, you'll want to know that each strand tip can fit in them with enough room to allow your own hair strand to be threaded through.

Few things worse than tipping all your hair, getting the attachments and then finding none of it fits. Really, it's horrible and you will squirt tears.

If you spin the tips immediately after removal, they're usually good to go again.

Amm's right. Try one first, see if it fits and modify from there.

I always reuse my pre-tipped hair. I secure the pieces I remove securely and the tips as evenly as possible. Then I remove the glue residue with acetone. It looks as clean as new.

question, if I used adhesive lined shrinkies, when I remove them, will I be able to just hit it with heat and slip it out, or will I need to acetone the whole thing? Does the acetone break up the i-tips?

i agree definately use whatever you plan on installing them with as a guide while you make them! I made that mistake, I got c*cky and thought I had a good eye and I had to go back and snip them smaller so they'd even fit in the micros.
